How can I Format an HP C6910p Computer? My Window enter into an error, when the electricity was switch from power 1 to power 2. for this reason I want to format the entire Computer, to reinstall window, right now my internet is not responding, and some of window program like window help and support, and some other program are all in error.
Just make a Windows install USB and plug it into the computer when it is off, then as the computer is booting you need to go into the bios (it's different from computer to computer but it should say on the screen something like "f12 bios" or something, you may have to look it up, also there are more steps if you are running win 10) and in the bios make the boot priority the USB, now when it boots from the USB you should be able to install Windows from scratch and format the disc, you can also try repairing the windows that is broken on the computer, when you are don't installing Windows go back into the bios and change the boot priority back to the hard drive...

A blue screen comes up displaying a Power-on password lock every time i startup, i don't remember ever putting a password lock or i just cant remember what password i used. im wondering if theres a way to bypass this BIOS password or maybe thers a default password ?

I removed the keyboard, unplugged the bios battery, holded down the power button about 30 secs, plugged back the bios battery, assembled the computer, didn't plug the battery and instead of that just plugged the ac adaptor and the bios passwd was gone =)
Only 2 ways to reset (clear) bios. 1 - is to unplug cmos battery located under keyboard and wait at least 3 days (10 days is recommended) before putting battery back in or AC power.If password is still there then repeat and wait longer. or option
2 - remove motherboard, locate bios chip on the back (upper left hand corner) , just below the bios chip there is a capacitor (NEK jE8) use a volt meter to discharge capacitor. Use the lowest setting like 2.5v, connect ground test lead to ground and hold positive lead to the + side of capacitor. Continue to hold untill you have zero voltage, once you have a zero reading, locate the fuse (M15) , on same side of motherboard, just under the docking station, use same process until discharged, Flip motherboard over and locate capacitor just to the left of the cpu, Use same process until zero, flip back over and return to the capacitor next to the bios chip and test, if zero your good to go, if you still have voltage repeat process until zero reading on both capacitor and fuse. Remember all this is to be done with No power from AC, Battery, and CMOS. Discharge process should take about 20 minutes. Tested and proven 100% and much faster than 3 to 10 days. Remember this will void your warranty. Good Luck
I've tried the way which is written in the post and i found small thing which solved the problem in 10 minutes.

No need to wait 3-10 days, it's only 10 minutes, but when u put back the CMOS battery, DON'T PLUG THE LAPTOP'S BATTERY, JUST THE POWER CORD, and try it then

Amazing.. it works.. All i did was removed the keyboard took out the cmos battery and kept holding power button for 30 secs and with out putting in the laptop battery connect the laptop power cord and turned on the laptop.. and bammm the cmos password was gone

Conclusion: to bypass the HP Compaq 6910p bios in 5 steps
1. To remove the laptop battery
2. To remove the keyboard
3. To take out the cmos battery
4. To keep holding power button for more than 30 secs
5. To connect the laptop power cord and turned on the laptop ( without the laptop battery)
There is a bios setting with extra strict security which I unintelligibly enabled with a password so long and impossible to remember that I of course didn't. Apparently, if this setting is enabled you can't clear CMOS. According to HP the procedure (if you don't have that security setting enabled) is to remove power battery, the AC and disconnect the CMOS battery for 30 min (make it an hour to be on safe side), then only plug the AC. This will achieve the same as voltmeter trick the guy used above. I'm going to leave it unplugged overnight. If still it prompts me for the password, then I try flashing the bios.
