Hello.  I'm having difficulty connecting a department setup as an external manager with the appropriate solver group.  In this case the department OIPRTIS has been created as assigned to several classes.  There is a cooresponding solver group also called 028 - OIPRTIS as well with no assigned Department.  I'm not given the option to add the OIPRTIS department however on the Edit Solver Group Page.  As far as I can tell the department is not associated with other Solver Groups, so not sure why it doesn't appear.  Possibly an order of how it was setup.  I'm coming back to this, so I don't recall how this was initially done.  Is there some way I can resolve this without deleting everything and rebuilding again?  Thanks!

Hi David,

Has the OIPRTIS department assigned any timetable managers (using the Timetable Managers page)? Looking at the code, only "used" departments not associated with any solver group appear on the Not Assigned Departments list. A department is considered in use when it has at least one subject area, one room, or one timetable manager associated with it.

Best regards,

I took another look and I was wrong as it does appear the department and the solver group are connected.  I am still having trouble setting up that same Department/Solver Group.  It isn't showing as a option to assign to a room so there are no rooms associated with that department.  I bet I'm missing a step here, any suggestions?  Thanks!

By default, only departments that are being used show on the Edit Room page, i.e., departments that have a manager, a subject area, or another room. If you are using UniTime 4.9.93 or later, you can set unitime.roomDepts.usedDepartmentsOnly to false (on the Application Configuration page) to let the page show all departments instead.

I figured it out.  The new departments weren't associated with someone on the managers screen.  Once I added them to a manager the departments were listed as options on the solver groups screen as well as the room edit screen.

Just saw your respose.  Thanks for verifying what was needed.  We need to update to 4.9, hopefully soon.  That's good to know there's a new option for setup.  Thanks for your help!
