to Unite Our District: Vote No
First off the relocation of children to Tillson Elementary school.
The school has been empty for a few years. When a building is closed,
it is dead. Discussing the building recently with another parent, I
learned that when an engineering firm looked at the building to make
it into a Rec center, the MINIMUM amount of repairs that were needed
came to $2.5Million!! The BOE is allocating $250,000. This time
they are off by a factor of 10. Who does these numbers for them?

My son will be one of those bussed to this school? What about mold,
what about the gym? What about the added bus time, the added fuel?

Also the BOE keeps saying how they will save money in rental and
upkeep by moving the district offices to the renovated old part of the
MS. Well, the cost for the renovation is estimated, according to BOE
figures at $2.6Million! The rent is around $7k per month, or $84K per
year. It will take about 25 years to see a return on that
investment!!!! My Goodness! Also, let's not even mention that the
BOE spent several hundred thousand dollars to renovate the building
before moving in. This investment of our money will be thrown
away. The landlord of that building not only got a tenant who paid
double the rent of the previous tenant but got the building renovated
at no cost! Smart landlord. Maybe he should be on the school board?
