The School Board has done a poor job at objectively representing the
voices of the community regarding the current Middle School Renovation
plan. This is not the time to be committing the New Paltz Central
School District to $70M+ of additional debt (principal plus interest)
when NY State is cutting aid and our national and local economies are
strained.

We have two children in the Middle School and prefer to postpone
building renovations at this time so the school district can limit or
eliminate the termination of teachers and programs, which are the true
basis of education. In addition, there should be a comprehensive plan
for our school district, not just one school or project at a time.
This way, the public can truly understand the potential future
financial / tax impact and can best prioritize decisions.

There is no plan for a cut from the State. If the school board was
really looking out for our children they would be making a plan like
the Highland School District is currently doing in the event of future
cuts. It is just irresponsible to not have a plan. Community members
who disagree with their agenda to build are being personally attacked
at every turn by Steve Greenfield. What kind of slimy behavior is
this by school board members? What happened to setting an example for
our children? If they are so sure of this project why the personal
attacks? Where is the transparency? Where is the fiscal
responsibility? I'm voting no.
