Why hasn't anybody asked what happen with the $90,000 it cost the tax
payers. I live on First St and this house they talk about has been
there for more then 10 years. At what point does it come down?? How
many times has the tax payers paid this demolition?? Also my quality
of life has been compromised by an abundant amount of traffic,
commercial vehicles and the ridicules amount of handicap signs being
put up. I cant find parking in my own block & I own my house. They
broke into my car and stole everything. I called the cops and they
took a report never dusted my car for prints. When I asked the cop
what happen with the police presence, he stated VAS cut community
policing and close the sub station in PRAD. Why?? The amount of kids
hanging around my area now has gotten worst. Thanks VAS, I would have
wanted to keep the COPS around instead of NEW SIDEWALKS. Sorry about
this ramble but enough is enough. By the way, can I get a HANDICAP
parking spot too??

Dear Correa, regarding the house on First Street, the City has owned that
house since 2002 when they took it over in an in rem foreclosure. Attached
is a copy of the Deed and the in rem foreclosure proceedings. It's so scary
to think that they have known about the house having structural deficiencies
in that the house liens for all this time and no one at City Hall thought to
demolish it back then. Clearly, they have put local residents in harms way
by not addressing the issue. Secondly, there was never a question about who
was going to pay for demolishing it so long as Mayor Vas believed the former
owner and now council candidate, Fernando Gonzalez, was perceived to be a
friend of the Mayor. As is the likely scenario, when Joe Vas sees that you
disagree with any of his policies, he goes after you with a vengeance. That
is precisely what Joe Vas is doing here. They City has owned that house for
6 years and they have done nothing to demolish it to put people out of harms
way and they certainly have never asked the prior owner to pay for it until
now.

I agree that the other issues in your emai need to be addressed.

The time has come for change. Please do not forget to vote for Wilda Diaz,
Fernando Gonzalez and Kenneth Balut on May 13, 2008 and call all your family
members and friend to remind them to vote.

Thank you again for your support.
