United We Stand Wisconsin began in 2009 at the annual mental health consumer/survivor conference. At that time 230 consumer/survivors in attendance overwhelmingly chose to ban together and form a statewide network of consumer/survivors of mental health. The intent of this network for people is to make positive changes in themselves and in the mental health service system locally, statewide or nationally.

Who we are:

We are a network of people - Mothers and fathers, neighbors, sisters and brothers, employers and employees, church members, friends, sons and daughters, voters, constituents, tax payers, Wisconsinites...and we have lived experience of mental illness and/or trauma and or substance use. We are without judgements and or prejudice and support all journeys to recovery.

We Educate and Advocate For:

More inclusive and welcoming communities for us all to live in
Ending Social Discrimination of those of us with mental illness, substance use and or criminal justice histories.
Everyone to believe that recovery is real and can happen for all of us
Services and supports that make recovery possible for us all
A seat at EVERY table where policy and funding decisions are made about us because we know what works and what hurts
A day where all Wisconsinites with mental illness are supported in their recovery journey

Just a few things before you post:

Recovery is at the core of everything we do so we uphold that all postings be recovery oriented.

Respectful debate is encouraged, but when it becomes disrespectful toward any person or organization, the post will be deleted (we moderate all posts prior to them being accepted).

Think before you post... ask yourself if what you want to post is recovery oriented in it's topic, language or message?

Make sure that you have the facts right... please don't post something that isn't correct. It will become a rumor and then it will fly everywhere and that makes it hard to correct.

Bottom line.... treat everyone the way you wish to be treated... THINK RECOVERY!
