MESSAGE OF THE PRIME MINISTER, THE HONOURABLE MRS KAMLA PERSAD-BISSESSAR, SC, MP, ON THE OCCASION OF EID-UL-FITR 2026
Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)
Almighty Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may attain righteousness”. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)
As the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end, Muslims in Trinidad and Tobago join the global Ummah in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.
On behalf of the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago, I extend warmest greetings and wish them safe, peaceful, and blessed celebrations.
Throughout Ramadan, Muslims have fasted, prayed, and given generously to those in need, strengthening their faith and renewing their sense of purpose. These acts of discipline and compassion shape how communities care for one another and how a nation is built.
Indeed, in Trinidad and Tobago, the Muslim community has long reflected these values in action, through charity, service, enterprise, and a deep commitment to family and community life.
These contributions continue to strengthen our national fabric and stand as a reminder that in moments of difficulty, it is these same principles that must guide us.
On this Eid, let us carry forward the spirit of Ramadan, not only in celebration, but in how we live, how we serve, and how we treat one another, as we work together to build a more just, compassionate, and peaceful nation and world.
To our Muslim brothers and sisters, may Allah accept your fasting, prayers, and charity, and may the devotion and sacrifice you have offered be returned to you in His mercy with multiplied blessings, spiritual elevation, and enduring reward.
May Allah’s choicest blessings be upon you and your families, granting you good health and happiness.
