TUNAPUNA TURNS OUT IN FORCE FOR UNC:
MOMENTUM BUILDS FOR APRIL 28TH VICTORY!
The United National Congress (UNC) took Tunapuna by storm on Monday night with a massive, high-energy Pavement Report that drew an electrified crowd, sending a clear message that the party is ready to take back government on April 28th and put Trinidad and Tobago back on the right track.
Organised under the guidance of Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, the event showcased the strength, unity, and determination of the UNC, proving that the momentum on the ground is overwhelmingly on the party’s side.
The sea of supporters gathered in Tunapuna, spilling into the streets. They cheered on a powerful lineup of speakers who exposed the failures of the PNM while outlining the UNC’s bold, people-first vision for Trinidad and Tobago.
MP Saddam Hosein: Exposing PNM Corruption & Incompetence
Attorney Saddam Hosein wasted no time in exposing the latest scandal under the PNM—state-owned Plipdeco’s purchase of $20,000 in PNM fete tickets using taxpayer dollars. Waving the evidence, he called for an immediate police investigation and Integrity Commission probe into the blatant misuse of public funds. Hosein also criticised the appointment of Camille Robinson-Regis as Attorney General, pointing out the absurdity of selecting someone who is not even a practising attorney for the highest legal office in the land.
Richard Smith (Candidate for Trincity/Maloney): Fighting for Change
Former army corporal and UNC candidate for Trincity/Maloney, Richard Smith, delivered a passionate address, asking how much longer will the people tolerate neglect and suffering under the PNM? He called for action and a united stand against the incompetence of the government.
Dr. Natalie Chaitan Maharaj (Candidate for Arouca/Lopinot): Fixing the Health Sector
Adding to the fire was Dr. Natalie Chaitan Maharaj, the UNC’s candidate for Arouca/Lopinot. A highly qualified gynecologist, she exposed the horrors of the collapsed healthcare system, describing the agonising wait times, understaffed hospitals, and crumbling infrastructure.
She lambasted the PNM’s failure to complete the Port of Spain General Hospital Central Block and putting on the pappyshow of the “practical opening”, calling it a monument to the PNM’s incompetence. She vowed that under a UNC government, healthcare would be restored, expanded, and made accessible to all citizens. There will be more doctors, nurses and specialists, and better access to medication and medical care for all citizens.
Devesh Maharaj (Candidate for Aranguez/St. Joseph): A Future for the Youth
Attorney Devesh Maharaj, candidate for Aranguez/St. Joseph, turned the focus to youth empowerment, painting a grim picture of unemployment, crime, and lack of opportunities in his constituency. He pledged that the UNC would revive training programs, expand access to higher education through GATE & scholarship programs, create real job opportunities -- including youth employment programs, and tackle crime and gang violence that threaten young people.
Wayne Sturge (Candidate for Sangre Grande): The PNM vs The UNC
Legal heavyweight and candidate for Sangre Grande, Wayne Sturge, drew a stark contrast between the UNC and the PNM, highlighting how the UNC operates democratically, while the PNM cancels internal elections and installs a new government without national elections. In addition, PNM serves the rich -- trying to make the rich richer, while the UNC fights for the people. He took aim at Stuart Young, calling him a bully who dismisses the concerns of citizens while rewarding the wealthy elite. Stuart Young is a symbol of PNM corruption and elitism. The PNM does not care about ordinary citizens, they only care about themselves.
MP David Lee: The Collapse of Stuart Young’s Government in 24 Hours
MP David Lee ridiculed Stuart Young’s disastrous first 24 hours as Prime Minister, where he failed to keep his government together and was forced to dissolve Parliament and call a snap election.
The UNC’s strength in Brazil on Monday night terrified Stuart Young into calling a snap election. He described the PNM as being in total disarray, with Colm Imbert, Foster Cummings, and others refusing to accept Young’s leadership. Young has no control over his own party.
MP Khadijah Ameen: The UNC is ready!
MP Khadijah Ameen told the audience that Stuart Young also called the snap election because he was running scared from the legal challenge promised by Kamla Persad-Bissessar against his illegitimate and unethical appointment.
She exposed the PNM’s false narrative that the UNC was caught off-guard by the elections, reminding the crowd that the UNC had booked election ads since October 2024. Meanwhile, the PNM is now scrambling and begging the media -- and even the UNC! -- for prime-time slots. The UNC was ready for elections before the PNM. The PNM is in disarray – They are desperate and unprepared.
MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal: A UNC Victory is Near!
MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal's serious address also provided moments of comic relief, as he questioned whether Stuart Young’s one-month tenure as Prime Minister even deserved his portrait at the airport.
He also called on legal experts within the UNC to explore reversing Young’s lifetime $87,000 monthly pension for being Prime Minister for less than a month! The crowd roared in approval of the suggestion, and outrage at the PNM’s shamelessness.
Dr. Moonilal also noted the fact that newly appointed Finance Minister, Vishnu Dhanpaul, will go down in history as the only Minister to have never delivered a budget speech!
Dr. Moonilal congratulated Kamla Persad-Bissessar on yet another major victory for democracy, as Stuart Young was forced to invite international election observers following relentless pressure from the Opposition Leader. However, he warned supporters not to be complacent, as sometimes two votes have made the difference between winning and losing in some seats. Dr. Moonilal urged supporters to come out in full force on April 28th.
UNC on the Road to Victory
With each public meeting, the UNC’s groundswell of support continues to grow. The people are tired of suffering under the PNM and are ready for a government that puts them first. Trinidad and Tobago’s future is at stake.
UNC has a plan to fix Trinidad & Tobago.
The UNC calls on the people to reject the PNM’s 10 years of suffering and vote UNC on April 28th, for a better future for you and your family!
The UNC is winning this election – and when the UNC wins, EVERYBODY WINS!
Every single vote counts. On April 28th, we must come out in record numbers to vote for the UNC and the Coalition of Interests.
