Hi everyone -

I'm Aaron, a resident of Fort Greene.

Today's decision by the NYC council was exciting. Before the vote,
Letita James (my representative!) read some comments on the floor
submitted to her by my friend Pinky Weitzman. It's nice to have proof
that our letters _are_ read and _do_ make an impact, even in a
district of tens of thousands of people.

I've heard that California is introducing a similar measure in the
state legislature, but haven't been able to find the text. If anyone
knows more about this measure, can you tell us if it is it in fact a
binding call for an Article V convention?

What are the next steps to getting this sort of legislation introduced
at the state level here in NY?

Hi Aaron,

Welcome!

The California statewide resolution was introduced on Wednesday. You can
read more about it on our wiki:
http://wiki.unitedrepublic.org/index.php?title=City_resolutions_in_California

If you'd like to add more details on the wiki page, please feel free.

As for next steps in NY: your best bet is to form a meetup group
(http://www.meetup.com/United-Republic) and build a coalition of
like-minded organizers. You'll also want to find a sponsor in the state
legislature. We're happy to help with this process.

Best,
Joey

Hey Aaron,

Please feel free to send around any docs to the group. I'm sure many are
curious to see what you're working on.

Best,

Hi All,
My name is Ronn and I live in the NW Bronx and have a really good relationship with most of our State Officials. Assemblyman Jose Rivera and I have worked closely on many issues over the past 15 years and I'm sure he would be willing to help any way he can. Please keep me informed about what our next steps will be, I am very interested in this issue.

Peace, Love & Justice,
Ronn

Attended a Town Hall with my NY State Sen. Carl Marcellino. I asked
him if he would support Bernie Sanders' proposed Constitutional
amendment. Short answer - "no, not at this time." Ronn, You should
use your contacts to start letter writing and email campaigns. This
should be coordinated with Sen Sanders efforts.

Perhaps Joseph Mornin has some suggestions?

Gabe,

It looks like Marcellino's district is all on LI.  I think you should start organizing city council resolutions in your town and maybe one of the bigger towns in the district.  Is that possible for you?
