Re: Quo Vadis, Americans, now?

Dear Friends, mon ami, mon frere, a cara, mi amigos,

While you watch the failure of your last great
manufacturing businesses, while you watch the corruptness, the costly
nature, the inefficiencies, the double-talk, the ’ spin ’, the
polarisation, the Executive, Congressional, Judicial failure of your
administrative, legislative, interpreters of Justice bodies, to stem
the tide of fiscal, ethical, spiritual, temporal [ former] greatness
from collapse, you lie prostrate at the feet of Mammon, passive,
supine, sheep-like, confused as to ’ why ? ’, ‘ whence to go next
( Quo Vadis) ‘, & ponder your alternatives through a glass darkly of
your increasing misery, may this doctor of Medicine suggest that ’
stock-taking ’ and backward looking scrutiny can vector US towards a
more contented future for yourselves and less-fortunate fellow-
inhabitants of this Earth over whom you exert an undue & undeserved
influence.

Slithering away go Chrysler, soon GM, hopefully not
Ford. Gone are your electronic manufacturing to Taiwan, to Mexico, to
India, etc. We were ’ banking ’ ( Oh, Jesu) on the ’ service ’
industries, mainly financial-fiscal, to permit US to continue our
domination of this Planet by means of our manipulation of ‘ financial
‘ institutions here & abroad--- those corporate bodies now shown to be
corrupt, ill-managed, inefficient, unethical & near-broke. Well, then,
additionally, they have recently been proven to be ’ a house-of-cards
’, requiring a great instillation of YOUR dollars to prop them up &
save them, too, from bankruptcy. What then to export?. McDonalds, KFC,
Coke/Pepsi , bang-bang, boom-boom movies/films?. Difficult ( nay,
impossible) it is to sustain USA wealth & declining popularity on
bread alone, fatty meats, fried chicken ( & mash), colored water, &
mindless ( albeit, no less behaviorally influential) movies/films---
the latter understandable only to North American ‘ minds ‘ programmed,
like Pavlov’s dog, not to question, not to reason intelligently, but,
rather, accept in a passive, supine, sheep-like manner what is fed
you.
Note their ( Americans) body mass, note their brain vacuums, note
their reflexic response to perceived danger(s).
You ( we) have recently elected to the highest office in the land a
charming, visually-presentable, articulate, educated, young Black-
American man. Hurray. A legacy of eight years of paranoid rule, of
costly military adventures , of cronyism, of declining American
popularity, of increasing failure of American Capitalism is his
partial lot. He is not to be envied. Too, we must fervently hope that
the JFK history is not too his epitaph. While the disgruntled, KKK-
mentalities, ex-Army, ill-educated, boorish, ill-informed, ill-read,
inarticulate, ’ ugly ’( some exceedingly so) American(s) roams abroad,
and any good-faith efforts to correct the gaps, the in-adequate
attention paid the poor, self-disenfranchised, vocabulary-deficient
percentage of the populace ( a large percentage, unfortunately, in a
rich land) & ’ bohemian ’ sectors of the populace, will be stymied.
This sector of our population cannot express themselves well. They
have neither the learning or vocabulary to speak forth their
grievances. Human nature being what we were dished out, & programmed
like Pavlov’s dog as they are, their ’ feelings ’ can only be
expressed as anger, a product of their fear over matters of change of
which the poor slobs cannot have insight(s). Thus, though change for-
the-better is meant to happen to all, ’ shit happens ’--- and has.

The Founding Fathers may have produced a rightfully-praised
constitutional document in 1776, but amended so many times since
perhaps it is time to shred it & re-write & re-think and reason a
new, improved, all-embracing constitution for these & foreseeable
times. There will be those ( oh, yes there will) who will feel
threatened by this proposed shift in the status quo &, unfamiliar with
paradigm shifts, they will retaliate with methods familiar to them:
Kill & discount the message; subject the messenger to ridicule; claim
’ an agenda ’ of which they ’ feel ’ has no relevance to themselves;
shoot.

“ Strong. Army strong “. Laughable. It cannot be forgotten that
America is great in the air. Wars won from up there in the ’ wild blue
yonder ’ have been their forte. On the ground, though, it has been a
whole different matter, viz. Korea, Vietnam, Beirut, Afghanistan,
Iraq, etc. ( The fools, poor fools who fell in all those wars.) The
victories in Panama, Granada, etc. don’t measure up as military
triumphs. They were won with music.

The fiscal & military legacy left to President Obama from that
corrupt, uncaring, crony-dominated, recently departed ( R.I.P.,
indeed) administration will be difficult to right from the Left ( J).

Because of the decisions made during & after World War II & Breton
Woods, we find ourselves in a world dominated by the USA. Live with
that----even though there needs be a shift post the collapse of
globalism!. Those of us concerned regarding the poor, the self-
disenfranchised, the ’ ’ bohemian ’ sectors of our society cannot
permit “ The Closing of the American Mind “ legatees to impede the
walk towards a kinder, gentler, more accommodating world for all.

“ The great mass of Men live lives of quite desperation “ someone ( ?
Waldo Emerson) said. Believe it & watch out. “ Such a man has a lean
& hungry look, he thinks too much, such Men are dangerous “. Believe
that too, while believing that not all such dangerous Men are
necessarily spare, though at the higher reaches of power ( Hitler,
Stalin, Napoleon, etc.) it seems to hold as an aphorism.
