Title:
An Enterprise Social Network Behavioural Risk Mitigation Framework
Abstract:
Social networking has transformed the business landscape, as the focus shifted from being a personal communication enabler to a mass collaborative platform designed to be used in the enterprise sphere. In the business context these tools are referred to
as Enterprise Social Networks (ESNs). Many organisations are adopting ESNs such as Yammer, Jive and Chatter to connect their employees and to establish external networks with customers, business partners and suppliers. The motivation behind ESN adoption is
to improve organisational performance and achieve competitive advantage, through increased productivity and innovation. While providing compelling business opportunities, ESNs also expose organisations to risks. This research aims to explore the state of ESN
adoption in organisations, to identify and classify the opportunities and risks inherent in the utilisation of ESN, particularly the largely ignored behavioural risks. Appropriate risk mitigation strategies for the identified behavioural risks will be developed
and validated.
