Title: ERP Institutionalisation: Exploring the Influencing Factors
Abstract:
The importance of studying institutional view and theories in the context of contemporary business organizations have been emphasized by many researchers. However, the literature overlooked the institutional elements which are influencing technology implementation
in organizations. This study aims to investigate the issues posed to ERP implementation through the lens of technology institutionalisation perspective by considering institutional theory, institutional pressures, and other organizational and technological
factors. Institutionalisation of technology is not a linear process, one that is independent of any organizational, cultural, technical causes and effects. In the normal progression of events, firstly the technology is implemented. Then, it is assimilated in
the organization and once its usage becomes routinized and embedded within the organizations’ work processes and value chain activities, it leads to successful institutionalisation. The aim of this research is, therefore, to develop an understanding of success
factors and challenges of ERP systems’ adoption, implementation, and usage through continuous interfacing with organizational, technical, social, cultural, environmental, competitive, political, and other institutional factors.
Kind regards
Elyse
