Ifyou're using an older MYOB product, like AccountRight v19 or AccountEdge, there's a new way to activate and confirm your company files. For all the details see Activating and confirming older MYOB products.
Activating a company file is a one-off task, and AccountRight will prompt you to do it. It ensures you're using a legitimate copy of our software to record your business data. Learn more about activation and why it's necessary.
If a new company file isn't activated within 30 days, it'll become read-only. This means you won't be able to enter new data. You'll only be able to view, print and export existing information.
Open the company file to be activated and sign on. The Activation Assistant appears. If your company file has become read-only, open it and go to the Help menu choose Activate your company file.
Our support team will then provide you with a licence file. Once they do, repeat the steps above and choose Offline (Contact Support) as your activation option, click Next and follow the prompts to load the licence file.
If you've activated a file in error or have an old file you no longer need, you can deactivate it. Just contact product support (on the Contact Us page, click the chat button at the bottom or scroll down for other options).
When you open a deactivated company file in AccountRight, it'll be read-only. Once we've deactivated the file, you'll be able to open a deactivated company file in read-only mode, but you won't be able to save any new information.
Activation protects against software piracy and reassures you that you're using an authentic product that can be trusted with your business data. You'll need to activate new company files or files upgraded from pre-2003 versions.
Our support team will then provide you with a licence file. Once they do, repeat the steps to activate or confirm and choose Offline (Contact Support) as your activation/confirmation option, click Next and follow the prompts to load the licence file.

You will only be prompted to activate an upgraded file if the file was created in a pre-2003 software version, eg MYOB Accounting v13, or Premier v7. You only need to activate the upgraded file if you want to continue entering data.
You have 30 days to activate a file from the date you created or upgraded it. Each time you open a company file that hasn't been activated, the Activation window will appear, prompting you to activate. It will also display how many days you have left to activate your file.
After the 30 days has lapsed, the Activation window will show you have zero days left to activate your file. You need to activate the file immediately if you want to continue entering transactions. If you don't activate the file at this time, it will become read-only.

No. An accountant or consultant can create a company file on your behalf and provide it to you. However, the accountant or consultant must not activate the company file using the serial number from their software version. Activation needs to be done using your software serial number.

This will free up the activation entitlement so you can activate another file. The deactivated file will become read-only, but you can still view all transactions and records in the file and print reports. You can only deactivate a file if you contact us.
