Good Afternoon,

The most recent Crime Notification Reports (August 16-29, 2012) for the Union Park District Council are attached.

UPDC Residents: Union Park Neighbors are talking!

Crime is preventable.

That's why Union park neighbors are sharing what they know - to help stop the same thing from happening to someone else! Here are a few notes from neighbors talking about recent incidents:

1700/1800 Blocks of Portland and Ashland Avenues

Be on the lookout for a Black SUV Suburban that you don't recognize as one of your neighbor's vehicles - this getaway truck has been linked to a home burglary by two adults on the 1700 Block of Ashland. Neighbors on these blocks have had their cars broken into and garages ransacked at night. One neighbor saw someone checking for opportunities in the alley at about 7am - and a bike go missing. Easy opportunities for thieves mean easily lost goods.

If you don't recognize a vehicle and it seems to be driving or parked suspiciously or if there is someone that doesn't belong in your alley, please call 9-1-1!

2100 Block of Temple Court

A "neighbor" walked up to the front door of a home on Temple Ct and said that they were having a car emergency and lived down the street - then asked to borrow some money to help. This individaul was NOT a neighbor, but randomly knocking on doors and taking advantage of neighbors for quick cash - DO NOT lend money (no matter the amount) to someone you don't know.  We all want to be nice, but please do not let yourself be victimized!
