to Crime Notification
Good Afternoon,

The most recent Crime Notification Report (August 9-15, 2012) for the Union Park District Council is attached.

UPDC Residents:

With the weather now reaching a more comfortable temperature, it’s nice to get out for a walk or run.  Here are a few tips from the SPPD to stay as safe as possible while outside:

            -Do not run after dark

-If possible, run or walk with a friend

-Carry identification and your keys with you at all times

-Let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return

-Run in the middle of the path and display confidence and a positive attitude

-Keep the volume of your headphones down so you can hear people around you

-Be aware of your surroundings and be alert when running/walking near bushes, shrubbery, and wooded areas

Remember that runners, joggers, walkers, and rollerbladers have to follow the rules of the road as they apply: You MUST be on the sidewalk. Police officers have the right to ticket if you are in violation of pedestrian laws.

DO NOT FORGET TO LOCK YOUR HOUSE WHEN YOU HEAD OUTSIDE, EVEN IF YOU ARE JUST IN THE YARD. Most crime happens because of opportunities left open.  Please help everyone by always being mindful.  Thank you!

The Union Park District Council's Neighborhood Issues Committee (NIC) meets once per month to discuss issues related to Crime and Safety, Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Issues, and Neighborhood Communication and Outreach.  All NIC meetings are open to the public and the committee welcomes community participation.  The next NIC meeting will be on Monday, September 10th from 6:30-8pm.  For more information, please contact the Union Park office at (651)645-6887 or by email at in...@unionparkdc.org
