Good morning, 

The most recent Crime Notification Reports (December 13, 2012 - January 16, 2013) for the Union Park District Council are attached.

UPDC Residents:  

Community Burglary Meeting

Tuesday, Jan 29th, 7pm - Union Park Office - Basement Conference Room - 1570 Concordia Avenue

Due to the recent burglaries in the neighborhood, there will be a Community Meeting on Tuesday, January 29th at 7pm at the Union Park office. The Saint Paul Police will be in attendance. Everyone is welcome to attend. Flyer is attached - please forward to your friends and neighbors. 

Updates from the SPPD:  

Theft of Catalytic Converters

Between January 13-16, six catalytic converters were stolen from the 970 block of W. Minnehaha Ave., 1600 and 2000 block of Marshall Ave., and the 1720 block of Iglehart Ave. If you see anything/anyone suspicious, please call 911 immediately.

 

Warming up your car the right way
Did you know that you can be ticketed for leaving your keys in the ignition while your car is warming up. 

Here is the city of Saint Paul's ordinance:
Sec. 157.07. - Duty to lock ignition, remove key.
(a) Every person when leaving a motor vehicle, except a commercial motor vehicle, unattended on any street, alley, or parking lot in the city shall lock the ignition, remove the key and take it with him or her. Any violation of these provisions shall not (1) mitigate the offense of stealing such motor vehicle, nor (2) be used to affect a recovery in any civil action for theft of such motor vehicle, or the insurance thereon, or (3) have any other bearing in any civil action.

(b) Any police officer who finds a motor vehicle standing in violation of the foregoing provisions, is authorized and directed to remove the keys and to deliver them to the desk officer at the police headquarters location. (Ord. No. 11-84, § 1, 9-28-11)

Please stay with your car while it is warming up to avoid getting a ticket and protect your car from being stolen!

41% of the total burglaries for this week occurred at night.
41% of the total burglaries for this week were no force entry which means they walked or climbed in.

Please remember that locking your doors and windows in your home and garage may help prevent burglaries.

If you see a suspicious person(s) or activity in your neighborhood, always call 9-1-1 immediately so police can investigate!

WEST DISTRICT POLICE COMMUNITY MEETINGS

The Western District Police Department's Community Meetings at the Western District Police Office are held on the third Tuesday of each month at both 9:30am and 6:30pm. This is a great meeting to attend if you have questions regarding crime in your neighborhood.
