Come play and learn about the game of Go. Typical meeting times and locations:

At the Union City library from 3:30 - 6:00PM on Fridays - please register on the library website (see Go the Game event) if planning to attend.
At the Union City library from 11:30 - 2PM on Saturdays. Please sign up if planning to attend.

There is no cost, and all levels are welcome. The library has plenty of go equipment, but you can always bring your own board and stones if you have them. For the latest meeting times and places please see the Calendar.

Beginners of all ages are welcome. If you don't know the rules yet, try this interactive tutorial. The game is simple to learn, but very difficult to master. After a few games, you will get a rank like in the martial arts. You start at about 30 kyu, but should advance quickly. If a 10 kyu player plays a 1 kyu player, the 10 kyu player gets a 9 stone handicap to compensate for the difference in skill. Beyond 1 kyu there are black belt ranks like 1 dan, 2 dan, etc.
