Most folks on this forum recommend Kamailio or OpenSIPS for MRCPv2 load balancing. Are there any other alternatives you can recommend? In particular, my management may not allow GPL licensed open source solutions.

(yes, I know we are not changing the code, just using it as stand-alone service so GPL should not be a concern. Yes, we use the Linux Kernel and it is GPL. I'm just trying to avoid the hassle if a good non-GPL alternative is available).

I want to review alternatives in case I can't get approval to use Kamailio or OpenSIPS. Any suggestions?

An alternative would be in not using an additional component in between, but simply configuring N clients to work with M servers. Each of the N clients may use M servers in load balancing. All the major IVR platforms from Genesys, Avaya, Cisco support this mode of operation natively. The same behavior can be achieved with Asterisk and FreeSWITCH more or less easily.

Our IVR platform can do MRCP failover when a MRCP server does not respond to a SIP OPTIONS request, but it does not do any load balancing. Requests tend to go to a single MRCP server. That is why we need the additional component.

Do you have a link to show FreeSwitch doing MRCP load balancing (as opposed to just failover)?

Nuance ships their Resource Manager with their speech server to perform SIP load balancing for Nuance servers.
