Hi there Community,

I'd like to announce the release of an open source application for
Asterisk and UniMRCP. The module provides two applications, MRCPSynth
and MRCPRecog that allows text-to-speech and speech recognition
directly from the dialplan.

See the Wiki for installation and configuration instructions and
examples:
http://code.google.com/p/unimrcp/wiki/asteriskUniMRCP

This code borrows a lot of ideas/concepts/code from Chris Rienzo's
mod_unimrcp application in the freeswitch project. Well done Chris on
an excellent job done there!

Enjoy!

In my turn, I'd like to thank Derik for very valuable contribution to
the project and the community.

Only a few days ago I announced the availability of ASR connector for
Asterisk. It was implementation of Speech API. I thought about other
possible integrations too, but couldn't imagine it'd happen in a few
days thereafter.
Now we have TTS and ASR dialplan modules too. It's great to have them
publicly available in the tree. This is a solution I'm going to better
explore for myself during the days.

I hope these initiatives will be continued and thanks again, Derik!

This is really a good news for UniMRCP and for TTS in Asterisk.

Thanks Derik

That's great news. I'll keep an eye on your module to see what
improvements I can pull in for FreeSWITCH. You'll probably will get
many more bug reports with the larger user base.
