Azure SS Plugin 1.25.0 Released

Microsoft Azure Speech Synthesis (SS) Plugin 1.25.0 to the UniMRCP Server (UMS) has been released.

The plugin is based on the following components:

  • Microsoft Text-to-Speech REST API
  • Libevent 2.1.9
  • Rapidjson 1.1.0

The plugin supports the following endpoints:

  • Speech Service (regional)
  • Custom Speech Service (regional)
  • Speech Service (containerized)
  • Custom Speech Service (containerized)
  • Speech Service (private)
  • Custom Speech Service (private)

The plugin is available for the following UMS versions:

  • 1.7.0
  • 1.8.0

The binaries are currently available for the following Linux distributions:

  • Red Hat 8
    • unimrcp-azure-ss-1.7.20-1.el8.x86_64.rpm
    • unimrcp-azure-ss-1.8.7-1.el8.x86_64.rpm
  • Red Hat 9

This release adds support for mutual TLS. The release allows to support WSO2 authentication and a custom authenticator.

The detailed list of changes introduced in this release follows.

New Features
  • Allow to specify a default voice per language in umsazurevoices.xml.
  • Added support for mutual TLS by allowing to specify a private key, client certificate and CA files from the plugin configuration.
  • Added support for WSO2 authentication by allowing to specify an auth secret in addition to an auth key.
  • Added support for a custom authenticator by allowing to specify arbitrary name/value parameters within a JSON object.
Fixed Problems
  • None.
Configuration Parameters
  • Added a new attribute 'default' to the element 'voice'.
Miscellaneous
  • Discontinued packages for Red Hat 7.
  • Added packages for Red Hat 9.
  • Updated the Usage Guide to reflect the changes introduced in this release.
