We have used Asterisk for many years.  Have also used TTS and Speech Recognition (using libraries) for over a decade with a PSTN switch.  Trying to transition to Asterisk with UniMRCP.

I setup a brand new Ubuntu 16.04 server on a VMWare VM.
Installed the Ubuntu xenial asterisk package.  asterisk -V shows Asterisk 13.13.1-xenial

Next, I followed the Asterisk Debian Installation Manual.

I see the asterisk-app-unimrcp, asterisk-res-speech-unimrcp, uniapr, uniapr-dev, uniapr-util, uniapr-util-dev, unimrcp-client, unimrcp-client-dev, unimrcp-common, unimrcp-common-dev, unisofia-sip, and unisofia-sip-dev packages are installed (using dpkg --list).

I do not see any /usr/local/unimrcp folder on the VM.
I am not sure what the next step is or if I did something wrong.

Could anyone provide some guidance on what I did wrong and/or how to proceed from here?

Have a great day!

Dan

Hi Dan,

All the binary packages for the UniMRCP client, server and the dependencies are installed in the directory /opt/unimrcp. The directory /usr/local/unimrcp is a default destination for installation from source.

Next, you may verify that the app-unimrcp and res-speech-unimrcp are loaded into Asterisk.

*CLI> module show like res_speech_unimrcp.so

Module                                      Description                              Use Count

res_speech_unimrcp.so       UniMRCP Speech Engine                    0

1 modules loaded

*CLI> module show like app_unimrcp.so

Module                                    Description                              Use Count

app_unimrcp.so              MRCP suite of applications               0

1 modules loaded

If so, follow the usage guide to set up the corresponding IP addresses in configuration and also program the Asterisk dialplan.

Should you have any questions, feel free to ask, and excuse me for any possible delay in communication.
