Hello,

I think I mentioned this before, but the SIGMORPHON shared task proposals are due September 15th, 2020, and acceptances are announced on September 30th, 2020. It is my understanding of the situation that the SIGMORPHON Exec intends to accept all viable proposals, which ours certainly will be seen as viable because this is year six of our efforts. We have consistently received a lot amount of participation, and our summary papers have become well cited.

After many Zoom calls, we converged and the title of the task this year is Generalization in Morphological Inflection Generation (thanks to Maria Ryskina). The task will have three subparts:
  1. Multi-lingual wug word testing, which we will crowd-source;
  2. Child-language acquisition data for Finnish and Polish (thanks to Ben Ambridge);
  3. Generalization across languages, a repeat of this year's task 0.
Authorship on our summary paper will be granted generously and given to those who help organize the task (logistics) or those who help with the data annotation.

If you are interested in the organizational side of the shared task, please add your name to the author list of the proposal herehttps://www.overleaf.com/5912373423tqhsdjpwmbhy. Note: organizing a shared task can be a lot of work. If it is not done well, the task will not receive many participants and that is not a good look. In the past, we have had a great team that really helped ensure we could attract participants, and have them enjoy the experience. If you just into the data, we will take the remainder of this conversation offline to not spam the general UniMorph mailing list any further.

If you are helping with the data, do not feel in any obligation to help with the organization.

Thanks,
--Ryan
