Dear sister's and brothers in Christ,
I hope you're all enjoying this weather as much as I am-it's been really
helpful for me to prepare for a trip to Miami and Key West with the
synod's LYO group in three weeks. This past Sunday we had our final
pre-trip meeting and received some of our work assignments. My work crew
will be doing several animal-related service projects, with a
pet-adoption agency in Miami, as well as a conservancy for primates and
tropical forests (which the youth are really excited about). In Key West
we'll be doing some work in one of the State Parks. I'm serving as one of
the chaplains on this trip, along with Tricia Neale, who did her field-ed
experience here at UniLu (and who says "hi" to everyone who
remembers her)
We're two of 13 adults and 64 youth who will be in Florida from July 1
through July12, working on numerous servant projects in Miami and Key
West. Please keep us all in your prayers, as we prepare for the trip, and
as we are serving. Tricia and I have compiled a book of devotions based
on "Reigning in the Wilderness" from Isaiah 32. I would be
happy to provide a copy for anyone who would like to be praying with us
while we are gone.

We just got back from visiting friends in Helena. Tomorrow,
we'll be going to worship at Gold Hill Lutheran Church which was our
congregation when we lived Butte and where Mindy was ordained.
While you've been having the heat wave, we've been enjoying typical
Montana weather, which could be anything between a heat wave and
snow. There is no typical, which is one of the things that makes it
so enjoyable. In this case, it's been the latter: cold all week and
snow all day Wednesday. Today, we went hiking with our Helena
friends up to Lewis & Clark Pass near Lincoln, and it snowed on us a
couple times. There was a blustery wind blowing, so we never
lingered much in one place, but it was beautiful
