Greetings All,
We hope you are all enjoying the sunshine today, before the clouds and
rain reappear. There are several interesting events beyond the usual
weekly events here at UniLu we'd like to share.
Tonight, of course, is Feast Incarnate, and tomorrow is the weekly Bible
Study and meal (at 6PM). Thursday's commemoration will be a brief
celebration of Eucharist using the texts for the Ascension of our Lord.

RALLY FOR ALL FAMILIES IN HARRISBURG MAY 5
CAPITAL ROTUNDA, 1:00pm
OPPOSING SENATE SB1250
“MARRIAGE PROTECTION AMMENDMENT”
Join Equality Advocates Pennsylvania, the Value All Families Coalition
and the Faith Coalition for Pennsylvania Families at a rally against the
anti-family constitutional Amendment. Last session, we held the
largest LGBT rally at the Capitol with more than 400 people in
attendance. Our goal this year is to have more than 500 Pennsylvanians
attend. Legislators and organizations opposing SB 1250 will speak
against the legislation and the media will be invited to cover the
rally.
On January 17, 2008, Pennsylvania State Senators started working to pass
Senate Bill 1250, the "Marriage Protection Amendment," that
would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to define marriage as solely
between one man and one woman, as well as prohibit civil unions and
potentially more.
On February 14, 2008, the bill was referred to the Judiciary
Committee with 17 co-sponsors, the same number of Senators that
co-sponsored similar legislation last session.
People are needed to contact your Senator and give a voice to the
millions of Pennsylvanians who oppose writing discrimination into our
State Constitution. In addition to calling your Senator, we need people
to meet, face-to-face, with your elected officials about this important
legislation. Go to:
http://eqfed.org/campaign/marriage_protection_amendment_07 for more
info and direct links to sample letters, etc.
All attendees are encouraged to visit their legislators that day. There
will be a training session at 11:00 AM to discuss the legislation and
visiting your elected officials. The training location will be
announced soon --
Please contact the office if you need a ride or can provide one.

Honor your Mother by contributing to Baby Manna
BabyManna is an opportunity for everyone in your
congregation to pay tribute to all mothers by contributing to a second
offering, every dollar of which will be used by Philabundance to purchase
infant formula and baby products (which are seldom donated). The
formula and food will be distributed among our member agencies in our
nine county service area throughout the Delaware Valley.
BabyManna is so important because 12,000 newborn babies will face the
possibility of infant malnutrition in our area alone. Many of these
babies are born into poverty and will be raised by caregivers who need
infant formula. Watered down formula, too little formula, or the
use of cow's milk can lead to lifelong health problems for the
child.
On Mother's Day, congregations traditionally celebrate motherhood and
mothers with special music, programs, or recognition. Wouldn't it
be wonderful if we could show our commitment, respect, and gratitude to
all mothers by participating in this collection and supporting the ones
who are dearest to every mother their children?
Thank you for your consideration of this project. Each dollar will
make a difference to a hungry child in our area.

Pascal Retreat at Augusta Lutheran Church in Trappe
You are invited to join the LTSP Christian Assembly I
students, Mark Mummert, and Melinda Quivik at Trappe, PA on May 10 for a
Paschal Retreat.
People should let Melinda know if they plan to come and join us for
supper -- just so we know numbers. It's a potluck being organized by the
students. Anyone coming to eat might want to bring something.
Here's the schedule:
10:00 car pool leaves from seminary
11:00 arrive at
Trapp
12:00 lunch (bring your own bag lunch)
1:00 Maundy Thursday
3:00 Good Friday
5:00 Potluck supper
7:00 Great Vigil of Easter
9:00 clean-up
Guests are welcome to come at any time during the day.
Guests would, of course, not need to stay for the clean-up!
The free time between parts of the liturgy are for walking on the
grounds, meditation, visiting with others, having a rest. It's a nice
quiet day. A real retreat.
Directions to Trappe.
Thanks,
Melinda Quivik

New Sanctuary Movement
Immigrants living in the US today are the targets of
anger, frustration,
and fear. What does it mean to love our neighbor, at a time when
our
neighbors are being deported? How can I respond with love and
action in
a climate of rising hatred and inaction? Join the New Sanctuary
Movement
of Philadelphia for a night of dialogue and education. Listen
to
first-hand accounts of immigrating to Philadelphia and hear how
immigration impacts the United States. Learn about the New Sanctuary
Movement and how you and your congregation could become involved.
