Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

We thank God for each and everyone of you and for your help through your presence and your prayers to make last week the wonderful, joyous celebration that it was of Christ's triumph over sin and death! Things are beginning to return to a slower pace (which is simply slower than the somewhat frantic pace of Holy Week-things are never really slow at UniLu)

Last night a group of us  watched "For the Bible Tells Me So," a documentary examining how the Bible has been used as a means of oppression through history, most recently against women, people of color, and people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. The film focused on the reaction of several families to the news that one of their children was created differently from what they expected them to be. (and how they used the Bible to affirm, or deny their children after they came out. We had a lengthy discussion after the film. This DVD is available to borrow through the church office.

Monday, March 31, 6PM: Reception for Meaghan Hull, Photographer

Meaghan Hull Exhibit: What About Life after Death?

Last winter and spring quarters, Drexel
photography senior Meaghan Hull spent hours
interviewing and photographing people of faith,
    asking them questions about their
    understanding/belief in life-after-death, as part
of her senior project. The results of her efforts
are now on exhibit in our fellowship hall through
the 12th of November. Faces you will recognize
include Pastor Nelson and Evan Boyd.

Meaghan has graciously allowed us to have her work in our fellowship hall over the past five months. We would invite everyone from the parish to come and meet Meaghan, share your thoughts on her work, and hear from her about the process she used in her interviews and how what she learned shaped her own personal faith journey.

Originally a New England native, Meaghan migrated
to Philadelphia four years ago and recently
graduated with a degree in Photography and a
minor in Art History from Drexel University. With
a passion for art she is currently working for
the Philadelphia Museum of Art and building a
free-lance career on her own. Over the four years
of intense courses, Meaghan gained an
understanding of the art aesthetic and historical value of photography.

By drawing inspiration from the world and putting
to use her technical knowledge, she brings a
unique eye top the photographic front and enjoys
a broad range of subjects including people, spaces, and landscapes.

Meaghan also received the title of Honorable
Mention in the Photographer's Forum Magazine Best
    of College Photography Annual 2007.

You can see some of Meaghan's work online at  www.meaghanhull.com
