Greetings Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I missed worshipping with you all this past Sunday, but was blessed to be
able to be part of a historic event in SEPA Synod's first ever overnight
camp for LGBTQ high school youth. It was good to be in the mountains (and
also a reminder of winter), and the camp was just one amazing moment
after another.
Another amazing experience was shared by a small group last night when
photographer Meaghan Hull, Drexel '07, gave a talk on her work which has
been hanging in the Fellowship Hall for the past five months. It was
interesting to hear how the project came about, and the challenges of
capturing fear (or lack thereof) two-dimensionally. After some probing
questions which were well-answered, we helped Meaghan (sadly) remove the
photographs. Meaghan does think that they will be shown again in the
church one of the other subjects serves, so stay tuned...
- In other news here at UniLu this week, we remind today is Tuesday,
and Feast Incarnate can always use your help. Tonights church is

- Sunday, April 6th, 9am choir, 9:30 Adult Forum New Topic:
sex NEW IN SUNDAY FORUM
APRIL 6, 9:30-10:10 AM The first draft is ready for study and
discussion in congregations for feed back to the ELCA.
"Draft Social Statement on HUMAN SEXUALITY" will become
the study at Sunday Forum at 9:30 AM each week in the Social Hall..
Copies of the draft statement will be available. It is also available
online at
www.elca.org/faithfuljourney for download and printing (64
pages).
This is the fourth social statement study in the Church in the past
several years. The UniLu group wil study and discuss the draft pages and
send feedback to the ELCA as input into the final Statement that will be
proposed to the national Church-wide Assembly in the summer of
2009.
The proposed statement deals with the broad spectrum of sexuality issues
and includes the questions of same gender unions and the ordination of
GLBTQ persons. The subject is interesting, divisive (in some quarters of
the church) and your input is important.
Join us on Sundays at 9:30 AM beginning on April 6. This week we will
introduce the topic and provide a brief history of the
"Faithful
Journey" project in the ELCA. We will also update the
latest status of GLBTQ ordination.
We'll have the coffee on for you.
For response to questions or for information, talk
with Dick Linderman. See 'ya!
