How to get Unemployment Fund [UNIGE]

Dear All,

As you know, it's been posed as one of the complicated processes in UNIGE to apply for Unemployment funds. I would like to explain the steps I did, to get it. Hopefully, it will be the same for all of you.

Before you read all the steps, a few things: Do the first step ASAP (I didn't know that's very simple and important), for the rest of the steps, take your time. 

Use your personal email in all the forms. Keep the receipts of all the steps, in case they mess up. I know I am over-explaining everything, but might be helpful.

STEP 1: Get registered for unemployment on the VERY FIRST day of your unemployment. For most of us it 1st of November. Your fund will start from a day you register yourself. It is VERY SIMPLE. JUST GO to address (Corso Sardegna, 4, 16142 Genova GE, Italy  Map ) with your passport, permesso (if expired, do mention it to person), and Codica Fiscale (which is in permesso). Ask for Unemployment (Dis Coll or Disoccupazione). Take someone with you, who knows Italian. I went with Sherona ☺, a big help for the entire procedure.  

This is the address and timings, In case it's far, any CGIL office should be fine, but I am not very sure about it 

 

and you will get a receipt of your registration, which looks something like this

ASK FOR NEXT STEPS FROM THE PERSON TOO, 

They will tell you three things to do

1. Get INPS pin and account

2. Register on INPS website and fill an application form

3. Register with Mi Attivo

Here how you do it

STEP 2: Go to INPS office, near Piazza Della Vittoria (Inps, Piazza della Vittoria, 6/R, 16121 Genova GE, Italy)  Map.

Get an appointment for pin code (If they don't understand, tell them Disoccupazione or show them your receipt of Dis Coll ), they will ask a photocopy of your passport and/or permesso, take with you before you go.  You will get half pin code on paper and a half on your mobile number. Something like that

STEP 3: Go to INPS website login with your code, and now another trouble, you have to fill a form. They will say to fill a form for Gestione, but there are many options like that. See in the figure, you have to go to this highlighted one.

The form is in Italian again, try to fill it yourself, if you cam else take the help of someone (e.g. Sherona ☺ )

STEP 4: Register with Mi Attivo. https://miattivo.regione.liguria.it.  

Honestly, I couldn't understand what to fill, so you can take help of Centro I'lmpiego.

 - Go to address (CENTRO PER L’IMPIEGO Genova CENTRO, Via Cesarea, 14, 16121 Genova GE, Italy) Map

 - Get an appointment for Dis Coll, reception lady will try to find your account, won't find it and refer you to one person, who will set up your account.

   Again, they don't speak English, better to take someone with you, else sign language might work.

 - When they set up your account you will get a copy of your account details with a stamp on it. You will also get an email for a confirmation.

STEP 5: ONCE you are done with step 4, YOU ARE DONE!!! with the procedure, the only thing left is - your meeting date with these people. They will send you an email,  in a few days, asking you to come with your CV and help you to find a job. If you fail to attend this meeting, they will decrease your monthly fund by 30% (or something), and keep decreasing if you keep missing your appointment. So DO ATTEND FIRST APPOINTMENT and MENTION THAT YOU CAN FIND JOB ON YOUR OWN, then they won't ask for any more appointments. They will give a receipt of detailed form something like this

CONGRATULATION!!!! NOW YOU ARE GETTING FUNDS☺

The unemployment fund is for 180 days and the amount depends on your last 6 months salary. Once you get your first fund, they will mail you the terms and conditions.

You have to inform them immediately In case 

 - you get a job (they will know if you don't tell them)

 - you leave the country for good

 - a few more conditions... don't remember

I have an additional question which is related to this thread. My current permesso linked with my current work contract is due to expire soon and I want to renew it as a job seeking permesso while I am waiting for my new job contract (outside Italy). Do you know which of the aforementioned documents is needed for the permesso renewal? Do I need it during the application through the post office or is it fine if I have it during fingerprinting?
