hello all, My name is Bill, and live in SW Florida, I am a huge fan of the older Chris Craft boats and stumbled across a 1973 Uniflite 28 ft, I think its a Salty Dog? not sure if thats right or not, , maybe someone can comment on that for me.
Amway, I promptly bought it and am now in the middle of bringing it back to life.
she has twin Chrysler engines, and seems to be all there, with the exception of the hard top which I was told was removed ,
I plan on putting a bimini in its place, but rebuilding the hard top is not off the table yet,
Anything I should know about these boats ahead of time? I know the 75's and up had a blistering issue,
this one has what I think is a perfect hull, clean and smooth, no issues that I can see,
I also need one windshield, on the right side, and it appears to be flat, so I dont see an issue having a piece of glass cut to fit, after I remove the left side as a template
the boat has beautiful lines and is gorgeous in my opinion, I will be needing two Uniflte emblems as they are also shot, and was wondering if anyone has a line on them, I found decals which look real nice, but was hoping to use plastic emblem instead,
I have a 3d printer, and maybe I can print them up , working on that as well
my engines look as if they may start right up and the previous owner tells me they were both running a little over a year ago, but you know how that goes,,,lol the starboard engine has clean oil and looks to be in excellent shape, the port engine seems to have a milk shake component in the oil pan,, which may or may not be a good thing, Im hoping its a head gasket , and not cracked heads,, but exploratory surgery will determine that,,lol
anyway, andy comments about this fine vessel will be appreciated, thanks
