I was told that there are zincs that need to be monitored on these
engines. Can anyone tell me where they are and where to purchase
replacements?

The zincs are below the waterline. Shaft, rudders, trim tabs. Zincs
act as "sacrificial" metals to corrode first instead of your running
gear corroding. they need to be checked periodially and changed.
usually zincs are changed every few months.

I have mine checked monthly by the company that cleans the bottom of my
boat. they change them as needed.

There are zincs in most engines usually in the heat exchanger system.  These are pencil zincs and can be bought at most marine stores.  They are usually in raw water intake area of the heat exchanger.  It may look just like a drain plug but the inside of the plug has threads to accept the pencil zincs.  Hal

There are also zincs in your engine heat exchangers. If you have a genset there is probably one in that also.

They typically are a brass hex piece that has a zinc anode screwed into it. If you pull the brass plug out of the heat exchanger(usually on the bottom of one end or other) and no anode is present replace it.

Any questions please call.

Dear Jim,

Thank you for the additional information. I plan to do my routine
maintenance today and will see if I can find them.

Best wishes, Judy
