Can you send it as a pdf or generic doc format for us open source or
google apps users?

thanks,
Ray

Sure thing.

I added some text about the architecture and posted it into my blog:
http://virtuage.blogspot.com/

Pat,
Could you please have a look as well, in case it is useful we can add it to the project page?

Regards,
Mohamed

Hey Mohamed, I'm in meetings for a bit this morning, but I can make you a project member of UCI and you should be able to post it.  I don't want to be a choke-point for useful things ending up in the project :)

At the risk of appearing to repeat myself, I'd suggest that references
to specific transports and products (XMPP, Jabber) are premature
optimisation.

It would be better to put "pubsub" or "messaging" or "bus" or
something else generic, instead. There is a lot of good work being
done on those areas, for example using plain old HTTP.

This is not to knock any protocol or technology. I just think that to
maximise adoption, at this stage, it is sensible to be as
implementation neutral as possible.

I agree with Alexis, let's keep the specifics as broad as possible.
XMPP is good for some applications, but not all. That said, unless
someone volunteers to do an alternative UCI communication
implementation, our prototype will most likely use XMPP.

Agreed, I'll let everyone know how it goes.

We've a simple messaging abstraction layer (currently supports, XMPP, AMQP and JMS) that could be contributed to alleviate messaging technology dependence. SLA@SOI is an open source project and will publish its code under Apache 2.0

Alexis,

You are definitely right. we need to be as generic as possible in this case. I just mentioned XMPP as just an example specially the prototype will be based on it.
I'll try to modify this to accomodate your feedback. Thanks

Mohamed

It is helpful, however, to note example protocols/technologies when they exist and when there
are likely candidates.

I've added you as a project member.  I'm not 100% familiar with the google code system, so let me know if you run into any problems posting documentation.
