Dear UNICASE Users and Developers.

We are glad to present you the new release 0.4.0. The server is up and
running again.

Please update you client by clicking on “install new software”, select
the UNICASE update site and install everything. Please note, that
selecting the installed plugin and clicking on update will not work.
The old client will not be able to connect to the server anymore.

Please note that we also switched to a new certificate. UNICASE will
automatically change the settings for you. If you have selected a
different certificate manually in the past you will have to select the
new UNICASE certificate 2010 now. To do so please select the server in
the EMFStore Browser and click on edit. Please also note, that you
have to re-enter you password once in case it has been saved before.

If you are using diagrams or the document export please see “known
issues”

The new release contains many improvements concerning the usability
and stability. We would like to thank you for the continuous feedback.
We also added some noteworthy feature described in the following. We
kindly ask you to report any remaining issues or problems with
updating to the new version.

Please see http://teambruegge.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/groups/unicase/wiki/dbbf2/Report_a_Feature_Request_or_Bug.html

Code Generation
Version 0.4.0 offers basic Code Generation support. You can transform
Packages or single Classes in .ecore files and then use the Eclipse
Modeling Framework (EMF) to generate code. See the developer wiki for
a tutorial:

http://code.google.com/p/unicase/wiki/Generating_code_from_UNICASE_class_model

Additionally we offer refactorings for class models such as “pull up
methode” to simplify object design. Please right click on class
elements to refactor.

Merging
We completely redesigned the merging dialog. This should solve
problems with conflicting changes and also offer a better
understandable way to handle the merge use case.

Multi Assignment
Work items can be assigned to multiple persons. If you want to create
a single item for every assignee to track the individual status, right
click on the work item and select “assign to group”. Select a number
of assignees or a whole group. As a result, a work tem for every
individual member will be created collected in a work package.

Connection over HTTPS
Version 0.4.0 connects using HTTP on its default fixed port 443. It is
therefore possible to connect from environments with strict firewall
rules only allowing fixed port access.

UI Extensibility
We improved the extensibility of the UNICASE client. This supports to
easily enhance the functionality of UNICASE. As an example we already
deployed the “Multi assignment” feature as an extension. Several
independent developers are currently working on new extensions such as
a Spell Checker, a feature to link elements of UNICASE on websites or
Human Readable IDs for work items.

Model Extensibility
We improved the extensibility of UNICASE. It is now easily possible to
extend UNICASE by new model elements or even replace the UNICASE model
completely. This supports to build applications based on the UNICASE
platform as the core elements such as the EMFStore, the workspace, the
navigator and the MEEditor are now independent of the UNICASE model.

Known Issues
Diagram get corrupted if users use different versions of GMF.

For the document export of large projects, the pengem space for
Eclipse has to be increased.

Web coming soon…
Based on the new version we are currently working on web applications
for UNICASE. This includes task lists for individual teams, pages for
bug reporting and accessible lists of team members. We plan to release
the first web applications in march.
