So what is the easiest way to get a UniBone? A bare board or preferably a board with SMT already mounted would be enough.

I would check with Decromancer.ca if you are in North America!

Hi Chuck:

I am looking for a Unibone as well.  I have spoken via email with the Unibone creator Joerg in the last few weeks.  Apparently he has parts and PCBs and is working on some assembly.  I also am looking for the PCB with surface mount devices installed.  The kit version with PCB/SMDs and a bag of parts would be fine for me.

Nice to get one as my 11/05 is having some odd memory issues.

Kevin,
I have a UniBone in my PDP-11/05 and it works fantastically. It gives you not only a wide variety of disks, preloaded with RT-11, XXDP, etc. plus it supplies any missing memory to give a full 28KW. I had 16KW of core memory originally but it failed and so the Unibone supplies all the memory.

Have you seen Jay Logue’s PDP-11/05 console adapter?

With it you have both a RS-232 connection with adjustable speeds to 9600 baud and a USB serial connection which can be used simultaneously. It also emulates paper tape and has paper tape Basic-11 built in. Jay has a number of units built and is very reasonable on the cost of one.

Best,
Mark

Thanks for the kind call-out.

Since we received several emails about this today: We don't currently carry Unibones, or the original QBone, nor bare PCBs. We also don't sell the raw CPLDs for those original boards.

We do have stock of QBone Duals, however, which are fully assembled and ready for use right out of the box, for QBus machines.

We also have a 40-pin to RS-232 console adapter that works with 11/05 and 11/10s, and the DL11/DLV11 cards, in addition to PDP-8 KL8E/KL8-JAs console ports, on our DEC accessories page.
