“The Sociological Imagination” - by C. Wright Mills

1)Consider the political, economic, familial, and cultural circumstances into which you were born. Make a list of some of these circumstances and also some of the major historical events that have occurred in your lifetime.

2)How do you think these historical and social circumstances may have affected your personal “biography”?

3)Can you think of ways in which your actions have influenced the course of other people’s lives?

4)Identify some famous people and consider how the intersection of “history and biography” led them to their particular position. 

5)How might the outcome have differed if some of the circumstances in their lives were different?
