Hello All -

I'm working on sending you the stuff. I have it all copied, but the file is too big to send so I'm trying to figure out how to send it. Here are the instructions in the mean time. i may have to send the file, one by one. If I do that, I will label it PER PAGE so you know the order of the reading.

The directions and questions are below - and the reading is attached. If there are any questions, comments or concerns - EMAIL ME

Hello,

For our next class I would like each of you to write a 2 page paper (3 pages maximum, but I only expect 2) on the piece entitled "Researching Dealers and Smugglers" by Patricia A. Adler.  Please put your name, my name, the name of the course, and the date in the upper left-hand corner of the first page.  Please include page numbers at the bottom right-hand corner of each page.

Remember, when you write a paper, you should persuade me of your opinion by using examples from the reading as well as your own logic and analysis. Don't be afraid to take a stand or to defend a controversial point of view. If you have any questions please contact me by email at this address or at my gmail address:profri...@gmail.com

For your short paper, you will be answering the following questions:

1. Is drug trafficking an important subject to study? What legitimate motivation might the author have for researching this subject?

2. What does the author mean when she says that researchers want to understand the world of criminals from their own perspective? Why would a researcher wish to understand a subject from an insider's perspective?

3. Do you think that all of the actions taken by the author throughout the research process were ethical? Explain.

Thanks,

Prof. Rivera
