This appears to be a web stack that encapsulates data- it's backed by CouchDB, has some concept
of share-ability of data, is offline, and has a node backend. Events are a first class stored
object, which replicates through
shares.

one thing that is special about hoodie is that it tries to make the
backend application-agnostic. so everything that is application-specific
is moved to the frontend (client-side code). see also
