Dear all,

I would like a little bit more about HunchWork project.

I am teacher and research at Pontificia Univerisdade Catolica de São
Paulo and we are going to start a project regarding big data in Brazil
in few months. We are know studying some technologies and partnership.

Is this project still active? Is there any way we can collaborate? We
have many courses (undergraduate and gradute programs) in the field of
technology and so on.

Best Regards,

Diogo Cortiz

Hi Diogo,

No this project is not active anymore, however it is usable. Talk to one of your school IT administrators and they could set the project up for you on a server.

Things you can do:
Create a Hunch (Hypothesis)
Create evidence and attach to that Hunch
Vote on the Evidence
Comment on the Hunch and Evidence
Create Evidence from World Bank Data, by selecting the countries and indicator you want.

I can provide some pictures of how this project works if you want.

The Project is licensed as open source. If your students find an interest in it and want to continue working on it, I am one of the developers and know the entire project. I can provide assistance remotely as needed. If this does happen though, it would probably be best to continue working out of the github so I can access any code your students write.

Project is located at:

If you have any further questions let me know.

Chris.

Hi Diogo
I slight correction to Chris' statement. The project is not active at the moment. The UN has no plans to develop this further in the foreseeable future. Sara and I are exploring options to continue development outside the organization and are currently in discussions with a couple of potential partners. I would be happy to discuss our plans and also to hear more about your program.

Dear All,

Thank you for you quick feed-back.

I have already setup HunchWorks in a test environment ( http://ec2-23-20-102-98.compute-1.amazonaws.com:8000/ ). We are taking a deeper looking right now.

Is there any environment with Hunches and Evidences created? so we can see how it really works and check complete researches in order to best understand the potential of HunchWorks

We are very interested to collaborate with this project. We are starting many projects in the field of Big Data, Data Science and Data Analytics, so I believe HunchWorks is a great tool to be part of it.

I see several ways to help with HunchWork project as we have a great multidisciplinary group in Brazil - involving researchers from Computer Science, Statistics, Economy, Business, and so on. By the way, we can apply for fundings at FAPESP (http://www.fapesp.br/en/), the main scientific and development funding agency in Brazil.

What are you guys planning for next development? Is there any feature in mind to be developed?

Thank you

Hi Diogo

Great to hear that you are looking at the codebase. Things are progressing here in New York. We are looking to build out a team and are in the final stages of setting up a company to drive things forward. I'll let you know more as soon as I have concrete information.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Diego,

We traced the start of the Sahel famine with HunchWorks - the hunches and evidence for this should be included with the code that you downloaded.

Thanks,

Sara
