Underground Metropolis
615 S. Main St. (backside of the building)
North Syracuse, New York
Cost:$5-10 sliding scale
Description:Two SOLO sets and one DUO set!

Guitarist David Stackenas is from Stockholm, Sweden. His past work in
the USA includes the tour project "Pipeline" with Mats Gustafson, Ken
Vandermark, Michael Zerang and Joe Moris. He has also collaborated
with Evan Parker, Barry Guy, Wilbert deJoode, Paul Lovens, Axel
Dörner,
Michael Zerang, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Paal Nilssen-Love, Jim O¹Rourke &
Tetuzi Akiyama a.o., among many others.

Tatsuya Nakatani (percussion) is originally from Osaka, Japan. In
2006
he performed in 80 cities in 7 countries and collaborated with 163
artists worldwide. In the past 10 years he has released nearly 50
recordings on CD. He has created his own instrumentation, effectively
inventing many instruments and extended techniques. He utilizes
drumset, bowed gongs, cymbals, singing bowls, metal objects, bells,
and various sticks and bows to create an intense, organic music that
defies category or genre. His music is based in improvised/
experimental
music, jazz, free jazz, rock, and noise, yet retains the sense of
space and beauty found in traditional Japanese folk music. New in
2007,
Nakatani has created a 9-piece Bowed-Gong performance, which includes
40" and 35" gongs.

David Stackenas is a Musician, composer, teacher. Born in Stockholm,
Sweden 1974. Music studies at the Royal Collage of Music in Stockholm
1995-98. Tours as soloist and with various projects in Europe and the
US. In 2000, David released critics claimed "the guitar" on swedish
label Häpna and in 2006 "bow" on kning-disk. Has also worked as a
musician in various dance-performances and theatre-plays. ³Creating
something different -- not to mention memorable -- with the world's
most popular instrument, the guitar, often seems as unlikely as
winning the national lottery. Yet young Swedish guitarist David
Stackenäs has
done so on this short, cunningly enigmatic disc. Ken Waxman Jazz
Weekly on solo-cd 'the guitar'.
