URGENT Meeting- Oct 7, 2:00pm

Dear All,

 

Apologies for the short notice but can we meet to discuss the status of the PIF on this date and time? The only other open schedule I have is October 8. If we cannot meet on either dates, may I ask  Marge to lead it?

 

Here's an update on the PIF.

We resubmitted the PIF July 15 and forwarded the same to Gara. Next meeting on this was a luncheon meeting with UNDP (JD, Baby and Gara), attended by myself, Marge Lavides, Anabelle, Cristi, during the Cebu NBSAP consultation in late August. We discussed the need to  tighten the concept , after which we pass it on to Gara who will put it in PIF format.

 

My own understanding from that meeting  is   that we simplify/clarify the language and flow, without significantly veering away from what we discussed. I am trying to capture this in 3 broad strokes but will need your assistance in putting it together, one page each lang:

 

a) IEC and biophysical assessment of 5 demonstration sites- Marge/Haribon

b) Valuation -REECS

c) Mainstreaming (national, local), including policy and institutional strengthening (ASoG)- in particular, engagement of LGUs in the entire process, including in valuation itself, much like what Third mentioned in his email.

 

Would appreciate feedback from those who attended if I captured the discussion right. I did not take notes and have been delinquent in taking immediate action and for that I apologize.

Hi Jean,

I cannot make it on Oct 7, have a previously set meeting already. I have a full schedule next week already.

 But if I remember it right, in the meetingg with JD Cruz of UNDP in Cebu, together with Baby, Grace, Neneng, Cristi, Anabelle etc., the agreement was you will make a concept note based on the discussion at Cebu and send this to us for comments and well in fact, JD offered to do the PIF already based on that to be commented concept note. We have been waiting for that concept note.

Also, It looks like this Mainstreaming proposal has been overtaken by events. If we are really to make it grounded, we can pick up from the outputs of NBSAP updating process Strategic Goal A Target 2, which is supposedly this Mainstreaming project.

that's why we need to meet because we need to level off on the components, including exactly  what we mean by mainstreaming. when you say it has been overtaken by events what exactly do you mean?

yung ginawa na bpp na mainstreaming biodiversity into clup and cdp i think does not include the tools, i presume.  i have not read the bpp approach although i have a copy, so i don't know if it does. but based on the interview with joey, he said they will be banking on our project to do that. also there's another integration and mainstreaming we need to do-local and national accounting systems. so, we need to build on existing frameworks.

i started doing the concept note but stopped when Cristi said is a mainstreaming project, not a valuation project. My thinking is that is it both. so let's all agree and make this participatory and a shared responsibility by  working on the components assigned to you and clearly relevant to your concerns and expertise. 

marge, if you cannot attend, please send someone from haribon or send you inputs ahead.

i know we are all busy , our schedules are all full but we will just have to find time to write one page each for a final discussion on Monday.

Jean, Your meeting notice is too short, nobody among Haribon can make it on October 7. 

I still insists that you send a working concept note based on the feedback of JD Cruz and the discussion in that Cebu meeting, otherwise, we will go on circles without a focus of discussion At least  in that Cebu discussion its already a feedback from JD himself based on our last PIF submission.
