In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful
Dear Brothers and Sisters: Assalam alaikum wrwb
Starting this month, Muharram of 1431, I plan to send a newsletter at the start of every month, inshaAllah. If you are not interested in the news, just go the “New Tip” section at the end. We hope you will love it.
Programs:
In the last couple of months, several programs had taken place. These include:
* Two short courses presented in Makkah for new Muslims and for Hujjaj. It was indeed a blessing to present it in the city where the Qur’an was revealed.
* A shorter version of the short course (first 6 lessons that teach around 50 words that constitute almost 30% of the words of the Qur’an) was presented in Kuwait. The course was organized by FIMA (Federation of Indian Muslim Associations).
* Our center at Hyderabad has a full-time coordinator and teacher, Mr. Abdurraheem Nayeemddin. Br. Abdurraheem has presented a short course in Muscat, Oman and another series in SriLanka.
* The Tamil version of the course is aggressively promoted by our brothers in in different cities of the the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
Plans:
1. A revised version of short course will soon be launched inshaAllah. The first 12 lessons will be the same. After that some changes are made to make it more compact and efficient.
2. Alhamdulillah, Chinese translation of the course has begun. We invite brothers and sisters to help us reach different world languages.
3. InshaAllah we are planning to have the course(s) conducted in Lagos, Nigeria in coming months. Please write to us if you can help us reach out to more people.
Books:
Recently I have come across a new book, Ta’leem Tadabbur-e-Qur’an (How to Teach the Pondering of the Qur’an). It is written by Dr. Hashim Ahdal, a professor from UmmulQura University of Makkah. It provides guidelines for school teachers how to teach children the pondering of the Qur’an. Allah SWT had stated clearly in the Qur’an that He revealed the book for pondering. So, if we don’t teach our children how to ponder then who will do that job??? Teaching pondering also involves teaching them the limits for a common man and when one should seek the help of scholars.
Website Updates:
Not much here! We wish we could do a lot but the time and the resources are too little to do more. We pray to Allah to give barakah in both.
· We have uploaded some more paras / Juz to Hindi word-for-word translation of the Qur’an.
Other Sites:
quran.uk.net is an excellent site for grammar-based explanation of the Qur’anic words and sentences. We hope that inshaAllah the content is authentic.
Other activities:
King Fahd Complex for Printing Holy Quran had organized a three-day conference on “Quran and IT Technologies” in Madinah. I attended almost all the sessions. Except 2 presentation, the rest (almost 30) were in Arabic. Almost all focused on Tajweed, Hifz, grammar, tafsir, and fiqh-related issues pertaining to IT technologies (such as copyrights, disposing CDs containing Qur’an, etc.). MashaAllah people from different parts of the world are doing their best to serve the Qur’an. However, unfortunately, there was no presentation on how to teach /learn Qur’anic Arabic. It is time that research work is carried out to present Quranic Arabic in a simple and effective using all kinds of technologies available to us.
New Tip:
You will find the following tip extremely useful in remembering all the basic forms of the verb, InshaAllah. We plan to use it in our future short courses.
In the short course, we teach you the four types of verbs: Fataha, Nasara, Dharaba, and Sami’a. To remember these types, you can use the following approach:
1. If you open the Qur’an (fataha),
2. Allah will help you (Nasara).
3. If you don’t, you will be hit (Dharaba),
4. So, listen to this (Sami’a)
(Please note that the 3 and 4 is for the Muslims, i.e., if they don’t open it and fulfill its rights by acting upon it and spreading it, they will be punished by Allah. May Allah give all of us Tawfeeq to fulfill all the rights of the Qur’an).
We can continue this structure for all the special cases of the 4 types above along the following lines:
5. So promise to Allah (wa’ada)
6. That you will say this to everyone (Qaala)
7. And pray to him (Da’aa)
8. That He helps you follow His orders (Amara)
In the above, 5, 6, and 7 relate to the cases where weak letters occur in the root of a verb. 5th one has a weak letter in the beginning (waaw); 6th one has it in the middle (alif) and 7th one has it in the end (alif). 8th case represents a case which has Hamza (which behaves to some extent like a weak letter).
The last case that remains is, Dhalla, where two of the three letters are repeated. Let us continue the above approach (continue from case 8).
9.
And save you from getting
lost (Dhalla).
(By the way, the last word of Surah Al-fatihah is from the same root).
Please note that if you Master the 9 types above, you will be able to understand the structure of almost 12,000 words of the Qur’an.
In the next newsletter we will give you a similar powerful yet simple tip to remember all the mazeed-feehi (verbs with extra letters in them) verb cases.
If you have similar tips, be sure to mail us.
Sincerely yours
Abdulazeez Abdulraheem
