handbook revision and googlegroup category question

Greetings fellow ALOs!

I'm Diane Jonte-Pace, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Santa Clara
University.
We're close to the end of our comprehensive review cycle -- we host
our EER site visit in February. We've learned a lot!

I'm writing simply to say that I'm pleased to hear about WASC's plans
to revise (and simplify) the process.

Also, a comment for WASC on the googlegroup categories: How about
creating a google group for small/mid-size institutions with BOTH
undergraduate and graduate focus? Although our undergraduate program
is central to our work at Santa Clara (which is why I selected this
group), we also have several significant graduate programs (in law,
business, counseling psychology, education, engineering, and
theology). I'd like to be in conversation with ALOs from small/mid-
size universities with both grad and undergrad foci. Is this a
possibility?

David here, AlO, details in the signature block below. Happy to be part of the listserv. I think it will be helpful.

Woodbury finished its reaffirmation cycle, and it was extraordinarily useful in refocusing and advancing the university. While it was burdensome, I am not as confident as others that an abbreviated version will be as effective. I do think that with such a cycle, all campuses will need to make some sort of interim report between visits and that the annual report will become more complicated, the way such reports are for some specialized accreditations. I doubt that any body that monitors and assures quality and on that basis certifies the effectiveness of the institution can ignore us for long.

Like Santa Clara, Woodbury is a small masters institution, but I am not certain that another group is necessary for that Carnegie class. I think diversity is good, and I think that ALOs will put answers in context when asked and will opt in and out of conversations as appropriate.
