Harmony Assistant is probably the most well-known software product developed by Myriad. It consists of a powerful score editor with several sound design and rendering features which can also be used as an arranger, a tablature generator for several instruments, a composing assistant due to its ability to automatically generate accompaniment and rhythm patterns, and many others.

Harmony Assistant is designed to be as user-friendly as possible. Its interface is based on floating windows (multiple document interface), representing several types of documents, palettes and dialogs.

The score editor is implemented into a document window. This "What You See Is What You Get" type of editor allows the user to manipulate nearly every aspect of the project right within the score layout itself, which can contain symbols like notes, rests, dynamics, ornaments, images, objects stored various kinds of staves, as well as sound, time, clef and key modifiers and many others. The editor has numerous settings that help the user manage the visual aspects of his or her score.

Palettes are windows who contain all the tools needed for interacting with the score. These palettes can be moved, usually resized, and easily hidden and showed. One can even define a personal layout by choosing the most used and needed tools from various palettes and storing them within a custom set of palettes.

Harmony Assistant's capabilities are not limited to score producing. The program has several features with which one can control the sound output. The most obvious setting in this direction is the ability to choose from a wide range of predefined instruments, as well as the ability to define custom instruments, from sets of samples. There are several sound bases available for use, ranging from small, low quality sample databases to higher and better options. Amongst these, the most proeminent sound base it the Gold Soundbase, a 1GB collection of high quality samples.

Any singular playable symbol on the score can be customized in audio output with several parameters (like ornaments), and there are multiple types of modifiers and effects which may alter the sound of several notes.

Furthermore, the software has several tools for raw waveform editing, and extended possibilities to record and mix sounds. It is possible to insert a waveform directly into the score, by the use of digital tracks.

A powerful tool implemented in the program is its own scripting language, which can be handled through an interface incorporated into the program. This feature enables the user to extend the abilities of the program and control almost everything inside it. Every action manifested by this engine is accomplished through scripts, which are individual blocks of code importable and exportable to .mys text files. The language, called MyrScript uses the syntax of LUA, and provides the user an API called "Interface Composer" for graphical interfaces of scripts.

There is a large collection of free scripts, manufactured by the developers as well as the user community, which is available online. If you designed script, feel free to add it to the archive. Most of these scripts are included by default in the program and can be accessed through the scripts menu.

Hi @petro, could You be so kind to tell/share what setting to use Harmony remote You currently use?
I am trying to work-out missing harmony toggle service with script but maybe there is better solution.

Code that enable turn on/off devices. It works great using Logitech Harmony Integration for remote.turn_on/off but I am looking for possibilities to toggle (as it is implemented in Harmony).
E.g. while activity A is power-on, clicking activity B is turning off activity A and turning on activity B.
I saw that You were implementing this in You project by templating switches. I was wonder do You change something in that. I am looking how to implement it by script.

In order to use voice commands with Alexa to control Roku and/or Harmony Hub you have to make a separate script for each command you want and you have to have Nabu Casa or the Amazon Alexa manual setup and make your scripts visible to Amazon Alexa then you have to create a separate Routine in Alexa for each script.

In order to find the Harmony Hub commands you have to go to your config folder and look for the conf file that looks like harmony_12345678.conf then open it with a text editor. It will have all of the commands that you can use for your scripts.

Once you have identified the Activity and/or commands you want to use make a separate script for each of them. The Harmony page at -assistant.io/integrations/harmony/ has Service Call examples that you need to include in your scripts. There is also an automation example for activity: "Watch TV" which should be adjustable for a script as the following.

Once you have the scripts created you can test them by selecting Execute within the page of the specific script or going to the Script page in Configuration then clicking on the Play icon next to the Script that you want to test. If you want to test scripts before creating them you can do that in Services in Developer Tools.

Then on your cellphone or tablet to the Amazon Alexa app then select Routines then click on the plus sign on top right then enter Routine name, when this happens, then Add Action then Smart Home then Control Scene then click on the desired script from HA that shows up in the list.

You can also use the media_player.select_source in a script to jump to a specific app within Roku. I have separate scripts for Youtube, Netflix, Prime, and so on, so I can tell Alexa or Google to switch to what I want to watch.

If you use the UI to create a script there is no option or need to use trigger, switch or sensor. There is only name, entity id, and sequence. You choose whatever you want for name and entity id. In sequence the Action type should be Call service. Then the rest depends on which command and which service you want to use and so forth. For remote.send_command you have to include entity_id and command. To turn on or off you would use remote.turn_on or remote.turn_off For changing the source you would use media_player.select_source

To find the Roku entity name go to Integrations under Configuration then click on the name of your Roku then 2 entities to see the name of the entities you can control with Scripts through a Call service. The Roku remote will be named remote.name which is what is used in remote.send_command

Some additional information - you can use scripts in Automations. So you can automatically have the TV turned off at a specific time or turned off at a specific time with an automation within HA or you can use Alexa routines to automate that.

One more question: to interact with the hub using Alexa, do I really have to have a remote.send_command script per button, i.e. a script for direction up, a script for direction down? Or is there a way to have all buttons available to Alexa?

I have a Logitech Harmony remote control which supports integration with Google Assistant. The Harmony shows up as a remote control in the Google home app and supports commands that allows me to control AV devices.

I contacted Google support and they have asked me to reset the Nest Audio, unlink and relink my Harmony device, move the Harmony device to a different room and even setup a new "home" in the Google Home app. Nothing has fixed the issue.

Same issue here that just started happening. If I ask Google to turn down the TV it just turns down the volume on the nest hub that I'm taking to. Previously it would have the Harmony hub turn down the TV volume.

I called them today. They told me it's escalated to a senior support person. I told them I"m going to call them every few days until it's fixed.
The more people who report the problem, the faster it might be fixed. Call Google support and get your support case open. Yes it's painful because they won't understand what a "harmony" is, but I think we all need to report the issue officially to put pressure on them.

then a bit later, started getting response from Harmony saying it was increasing the volume (like the old Harmony (Red) did - but I unlinked that when Harmony (blue) became available. Something wierd happening between Google & Logitech/Harmony

I have the same/similar situation. I have four (4) Harmony Hubs in the house controlling 4 different TVs (2 of which have home entertainment systems attached). I have a half-dozen Minis, 2 Home speakers, a Home Hub Max, and and Home Hub, all of which have been able to control Harmony with voice commands for over 3 years now without problem.

It all changed around two weeks ago. I had "favorite" channels assigned within Harmony, so I used to be able to tell Home, "Switch the Family TV to CNN" or "Switch the Bedroom TV to ESPN," and the channel would change. Or if a channel wasn't assigned as a favorite, I could simply say "Switch the Family TV to channel 419." It would always work. Now it doesn't. Home simply replies, "Sorry, I can't find any devices in your home that play video" or "Sorry, I can't find any devices in your home that can play that," adding, "You might want to check the device settings in the Google Home app."

Unlike some others here, I can still say, "Increase the volume on the Family TV," and the volume will increase. However, I used to also be able to say "Turn up the volume on the Family TV." That no longer works; instead, like others here, the Home device that responds simply turns its own volume up.

You're very right. However just to elaborate on one point you made. You state that you can say "Increase the volume on the Family TV". This only turns it up one unit. We used to be able to say "Increase the volume on the Family TV by 15%" for example and it would do just that.

Percentage (and certainly volume numbers) didn't work too well because audio comes through a Denon receiver, which has volume units in increments of 0.5. (It's been a good while since I'd last tried percentage, so I can't remember exactly what happens.) When I tell Home to simply increase the volume, the Denon receiver increases the volume by 7 of those 0.5 increments, e.g., from 52.5 to 56.0. That's usually fine.
