The Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership is pleased to hold its next Stakeholders Meeting in Ridgway this month, to discuss the findings from the Rapid River Habit Assessment of October 2010, share upcoming summer events, and introduce our new AmeriCorps VISTA, Matthew Jurjonas. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 21, 3:30 – 5:30 pm at the Ridgway Community Center, with a potluck dinner to follow! Agenda:
1. Introduce new AmeriCorps VISTA, Matthew Jurjonas
2. Present Uncompahgre River Assessment results
3. Psych up for the Abandoned Mines & Water Quality Conference (April 27)
4. Psych up for summer - Ridgway River Festival, Lake Appreciation Day, & Pulling for Colorado
5. From the Mining Committee: Water Quality Report Update
In October 2010, twenty volunteers joined the UWP in a full 8-hour day of visiting sites along the Uncompahgre River from Ouray to Delta to assess the health of the riparian habitat. At the April 2011 meeting, analyzed data will be ready to present in a “report card” of the river’s physical health.
Directions to the Ridgway Community Center: 201 N. Railroad, Ridgway.
The Community Center shares the building with Ridgway Town Hall, and is neighbored by the Ridgway Fire Department on Railroad Street. Railroad street is located off of Sherman St/US-62 by the Town Park and Tennis Courts, across from the Cimarron Bookstore & Coffeehouse. Parking can be found alongside the building, at the Ridgway Library, and in the Tennis Courts parking lot.
I hope to see you many of you there, as this is my last Stakeholder Meeting with the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership. It has been a wonderful year to grow alongside this blossoming organization. Thank you all for your support! I will miss the Uncompahgre Watershed dearly.
