- The Tri-County Water Conservancy District is applying for a Lease of Power Privilege (LOPP) from the Bureau of Reclamation to construct and operate a hydropower project at Ridgway Dam on the Uncompahgre River near Ridgway Colorado. Reclamation is beginning preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) on the proposal, as defined by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for Lease of Power Privilege.

Geoparks are regions of geologic interest designated and recognized internationally by UNESCO. The idea is to educate the public about geology & geoprocesses, preserve unique geologic attributes if threatened and be an economic boost for the local region via ecotourism.
