"There were two versions of this song - male and female. The male version was shot in a desert in 50 degree heat while the female version was shot over three days in Mumbai. While shooting in the desert, the cast had to dance on the sand which kept flying into our eyes making it very difficult to shoot the song," Karisma recalled. "When we started shooting for the female version, I realised I had 30 outfit changes for that one song. Every look was different with different hair and make-up. The steps were quite tough. So, Jhanjhariya was not only an iconic song but also the most memorable song of my career," added the dancing diva.

Krishna is a 1996 Indian action film directed by Deepak Shivdasani, starring Sunil Shetty, Karishma Kapoor, Om Puri, Shakti Kapoor, Tinnu Anand and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.[2] The film was an average grosser at the box office.[3] The music of the film was also popular with hit songs such as "Jhanjariya". The film was mostly a remake of Deep Cover (1992) starring Lawrence "Larry" Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum. It was also inspired on Jeetendra and Hema Malini film Meri Aawaz Suno (1981) which itself was a remake of a Kannada film Antha (1981).[4]

Krishna (Sunil Shetty) is a new name in the world of crime, whose exploits attract the attention of Raja (Shakti Kapoor), an heir to a dead underworld don. Raja is just reduced to remain at the mercy of Bhujang Rao, aka Bhau (Mohan Joshi), another don. Raja loathes Bhujang and his attitude and extends a hand to Krishna, who accepts the offer. Bhau tries to convince Krishna of a brighter future if he joins Bhau's gang, but Krishna remains with Raja. Meanwhile, Rashmi (Karisma Kapoor), a club dancer, is lamenting the loss of Sunil, her love. Sunil, who was Krishna's lookalike, was a pilot who died during his training session. Rashmi refuses to believe so, hoping that Sunil will return.

During a gig, Rashmi runs into Krishna and is thrilled to see him. Krishna tells her firmly that he is not Sunil. Only when she sees that a tattoo bearing Rashmi's name, which was supposed to be on Sunil's arm, is missing from Krishna's arm, she leaves, broken-hearted and dejected. However, some goons try to rape her and she is saved by Krishna. Krishna reveals that he is indeed Sunil and goes on, to tell the truth. He reveals that his instructor was actually acting as a link for some criminals. He forced Sunil to land at an abandoned place to meet the criminals.

The dancer also tells him that he keeps a record, mostly videotapes of the people he has sold the girls to, in order to blackmail them. In a fit of rage, Sunil accosts the man, but he dies. Sunil receives another blow when he learns that his mother has died. Amar keeps the truths under wraps and gives Sunil's mother the funeral she deserved. Sunil also learns that Amar's own daughter has been kidnapped and that Cobra has the tape which may uncover the identity of his sister's rapist. On learning of Cobra's other deal with Bhau and Raja, Sunil decides to end it all. In bloody aftermath, the criminals are killed.

Sunil finds the tape, whereby he receives a shocker that his sister was raped by none other than Amar. Here, it is revealed that Amar's daughter is not kidnapped; it was only a ploy to garner public sympathy for the next elections. However, the Commissioner (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) learns of this fraud and Amar has him captured. The next day, Amar is giving a speech when an enraged Sunil turns up. He makes his way to Amar. The Commissioner, who has somehow succeeded in escaping, manages to save Sunil from being taken down. He pleads to Sunil to let the police take over. Amar tries to run away, taking advantage of the situation, but Sunil removes a fake Sudarshan Chakra from an idol of Lord Krishna and beheads Amar with it. With Amar dead, Sunil surrenders.

Jhanjhariya...

Jhanjhariya... chhankati gori...

jhanjhariya chhankati gori nikli hai panghat jaane

aage pichhe chalne lage hain ban than ke deewane ho...

jhanjhariya chhankati gori nikli hai panghat jaane

aage pichhe chalne lage hain ban than ke deewane ho...

jhanjhariya... chhankati gori...

aisa gora badan khila hai jaise sarson phooli...

aisa gora badan khila hai jaise sarson phooli

apni masti me deewani sare jag ko bhooli

mehka mehka ang hai sara lab chhalke paimane ho...

jhanjhariya chhankati gori...

surat aise chamke jaise tapti jeth dupehari

surat aise chamke jaise tapti jeth dupehari

aankhen uski jheel samandar khoob hain gehri gehri...

jaane kitne doob gaye hain pyar ke moti paane ho.

jhanjhariya chhankati gori...

behki behki chaal chale to sar se aanchal dhalke

ho... behki behki chaal chale to sar se aanchal dhalke

kori kori jaise koi ras ki gaagar chhalke

koi hans kar dekhe koi pyar se maare taane ho...

jhanjhariya... chhankati gori... nikli hai panghat jaane...

aage pichhe chalne lage hain ban than ke deewane ho...

jhanjhariya... chhankati gori...

First of all, I would like to clarify the difference between inspiration and copying. When you listen a song, like it and try to make something like that(by using one or two tunes from the original) is inspiration. When you do not want to work, simply lift up a melodious tune, and copy it into your own song is copying. Creative inspiration is not always wrong. Sometimes you get to listen great songs due to this creative inspiration. Copying in any sense is wrong and should not be done.

The famous song by Kumar Sanu is inspired. Roshan da, after composing music for nearly 15 years decided to copy a country song as it is into a romantic number. You can find a lot of similarities between these two songs.

Those were the days when Anand Raj Anand was a struggling music director. In early 1995, he released an album by the name Babu Tip Top which featured his composition Jhanjhariya. He never know that Anu Malik had sharp eyes for plagiarism. Anu Malik copied the same song as it is, with same music, same lyrics except for the same singer, for his 1996 movie Krishna. This is the height of plagiarism.

Pritam at his plagiarism best. He knows that he lacks in talent which anyone can witness easily. He has composed for 3-4 films only and the sound has started looking monotonous. Now what to do to innovate. The answer is simple. Copy a song from across the border which is the simplest thing to do as Pakistan still believes in melody rather than disco. He copied Aadat straight away. His version of the song was flat without any expressions and literally he wasted a singer of KKs caliber. Thankfully for the audience, the original version has been included in the movie Kalyug.

I have included only those songs in my list whose source has been in the dark for a long time. I know many other popular songs as well but you all know their sources. I wanted to put light on these unknown or lesser known plagiarism and hence my list.

There are a lot of other songs as well which are as a result of direct copying. If I start writing on them, may be I will have to write 100s of reviews. So I a quoting a few more just for your interest:
