SoI am on turn 98 Of my Chaos Dwarf Campaign playing as azgorh. no issues up until turn 98. Doesnt seem to be a common thread that i can place but the autosave on turn 97 works everytime no issues. So whatever it is that causing a crash must have happend on turn 98 maybe its happening in the fog of war. or its an audio issue but here is my save file and crash dump. To repeat the issue you can simply load the latest save on turn 98 or the quick save as well. but the autosave on turn 97 should work just fine.

No mods. verified all files. latest drivers as well.DxDiag.txtD2023-11-26_T16-12-17.stack.txt

Ok so on turn 97 I believe I confederate Servants of the Conclave. (pretty sure thats the name) using the chorf mechanic (the tower thing forgot the name) I am uploading 2 files where I do not confed them and everything seems to load fine.

On a side note i still can not* load the crash log in a compressed folder but I think the confederation might be the culprit. Let me know if I uploaded the wrong save files again and if there is anything else I can do.

Hi @Player#84584

Thank you for providing the correct saves and more information, I still can't seem to duplicate the crash in house, can I take a look at your DxDiag so we can further investigate? Confederation of the servants of conclave through the Tower of Zharr seems to be fine and I was able to move on through your turn 97 save with no issues, so could be something else at play. If you've had or removed mods at any point in this campaign it might be worth verifying your files through steam too.

Thank you for your patience.

remeber confederation works fine. it only crashes if you try to load the save. can you confirm that if you confed on turn 97 and complete the endturn and save. does it crash if you try to load that turn 98.

Awesome. glad I could help. To confirm is it the confederation of servants of the conclave and is there something i can do to make the bug not happen. like confed a turn later or just destroy them and do it myself?

I wanted to add my experience on this as well as I've encountered a crash playing the first battle against Skaven with the Markus Wulfhart campaign in Immortal Empires. I can autoresolve the battle fine, but as the map loads when the bar gets to about the middle it crashes. Tried a new campaign, tried reloading the save, both seem to result in a crash on the first battle. I've included a save file, my modified.log (blank) and DxDiag.

When playing Total War: Rome II's different campaigns, the game goes to a black screen without any visuals besides the cursor and audio, which still seems to update as if interacting with the game. This happens at a few different points in the campaign but most commonly when loading into a battle from the campaign map, or when loading back to the campaign map from the end of a battle. I tried a few different campaigns and went straight into a faction's starting battle and this occurred each time (Grand Campaign, Imperator Augustus, Rise of the Republic) Wrath of Sparta seemed to play fine with a quick test. I can however play custom battles perfectly fine it seems.

I am using driver version 31.0.101.4826 with an Arc A750. A few files are attached showing system specs and game settings. Also, I am on the most up to date versions of my BIOS and Windows 11.

This can be reproduced most reliably by loading into the Grand Campaign and attempting to play a battle (The factions I tested were Rome and the Arverni). If the glitch does not occur loading into the battle, play through the battle and it might occur when loading back to the campaign map after the battle (This is what happened in the Rise if the Republic campaign). All of these instances happened during the first attempted battle of the campaign (Minus the case of Wrath of Sparta which had no issue in its first attempted battle).

I have also attached a video of the glitch occurring. However, in the recording, the screen does not go black, it instead continues to show the loading screen. From my perspective the screen was black, and you can see when this happens when I start to circle my cursor around after the loading progress bar has filled.

That driver version was released the same day that I made my post so I didn't see it at the time. After updating using DDU, the issue still seems to persist. Let me know if there is any other information I can give to help find a solution.

After a bit more tinkering, the game will load into a campaign on the settings that I shared, seemingly without issue, but if I change any settings, it will black screen when loading with the new settings. For example, I changed the 'water' setting to 'high' from 'very high.' The screen went black after trying to load the changes. I then restarted the game and attempted the same change and the game loaded fine. So there seems to be some issue with the loading process, not necessarily the specific settings used. The same thing happened when changing the 'trees,' 'terrain,' and 'texture filtering' settings at different points of that process; either when first making the change, or when reverting back to what it was originally set to.

It's been three months since I made my original post requesting help with this issue. I recently updated to driver version 31.0.101.5084 and the issue still persists. I just want to ask if the issue is still being looked into or if I will have to write off being able to play this game at this point. If there is any more information I can provide to help solve the issue, please let me know.

I'm not sure if you should write it off just yet. Theres so many similar posts about Rome 2 and Attila and all the other pre Warhammer 1 total war games just not working on ARC. I bought and Arc A770 and A750 (both LEs) a few months apart to replace old RX 480 8gbs in a 10th and 11th gen intel system 8 months into Arcs lifespan for the first purchase. I had a rough time in the first few months in some games (like League would crash for me for no reason every 5 games) but intel has been working very hard trying to fix the drivers and I've seen them improved significantly. My guess is this is less of an Intel issue and more of a CA/Sega issue. Its been put on full blast that they only care about the bottom line offering terrible products by rehashing old assets (and their bugs) and theyve been doing it since Empire in an unsustainable fashion. Pharaoh's sales are so bad because the fanbase knows theyre just talking Troy assets and doing what they can with them rather than doing Medieval 3 something better they dont have any assets for. Rome 2 and Attila are said to work in Direct X Vulkan if you mod the game files to use Vulkan API but I can't actually show you where or how to do that its just mentioned in the forums everywhere, so we at least know it can be done.

I have recently encountered this bug on my Intel Serpent Canyon NUC. That uses an Arc 770M 16GB. I was able to get the game to run by moving the texture quality from Ultra down to Very High. In game, the textures flicker or look like they haven't been fully loaded in.

DISCORD is complete shit, the perfect utility to bully individuals, and things aren't kept between one smaller group of developers, instead developers of other projects and players of different mods all get to read and share everything, which is bad when for example there is a fallout between two modders, then everybody else gets to pick a side and before you know it every single modder or player may or may not pick your side, in something that shouldn't be their business anyway.

I've been negative to Discord the last year or so, thinking of deleting the Discord because of a lack of activity anyway.

But if you're wondering it's not my own Discord channels that I'm writing about, I mean I think that the Warcraft: Total War Discord is inactive in which i hardly ever get responses on anything in 2024, and this is unlike in 2021 and earlier when any post about the development of Warcraft received replies.

The fact the Discord is so inactive has made me consider deleting it though..

But the Discord Channel I am mainly negative about is of course the Medieval 2 Modder's Discord where the Admins have bullied me since at least the spring 2021, by banning and blocking me a lot. And it all started with a political discussion about Ukraine that later ended up discussing politics in general, where obviously people may have different opinions, so many of the modder's there didn't like me very much after I stated I was against certain politics.

Anyway, in 2024 it has nothing to do with politics - but politics is what caused a divide in that Discord between people who don't like me and people who do.

In 2024 I feel they're just stupid. I just got banned from the Discord for stating a comment was retarded, in which a user (not an admin) made fun of me saying "I can't write about the entire issue with adding a certain Faerun-model to Faerun: Total War in one single sentence", this was after I had posted more than one post about my issues in the "Model's and Animations"-channel where you're supposed to post when you have troubles. An admin demanded I'd keep to one single sentence, and "Warned me" - I answered that it's impossible to stick to one sentence, after which a guy who wasn't an admin made fun of me by writing "You're saying you can't post sentences" - which received "laughing smiles" - after which I called his comment retarded, and after that they kicked me out of the Discord!

So yeah, Discord as a service has only been bad for relations between modders.
