由矶崎新设计的喜玛拉雅中心作为上海新的文化地标，容纳了美术馆、剧场、设计酒店、艺术会所、艺术商店等文化和商业形态。而作为整个喜玛拉雅中心的一部分，由巨大的异形柱体构成的无极场可以为各种艺术计划提供一个开放的空间和舞台。艺术节方案就是利用无极场的多维空间推出一个集影像、行为表演、声音装置和电子音乐等为一体的综合跨媒介艺术事件，在三天的时间里观众与艺术家身处同一个空间里展开互动，享受艺术带来的新的身体与心理的体验。
这次参加的十几位艺术家或是新媒体艺术领域的先锋，或为年轻新锐艺术家中的领军人物，他们在各自的艺术实践中都发展出了独特的艺术形式语言以及对于媒体材料的综合运用。而他们作品的共性就在于对空间关系的探讨与把握。无极场就像是宇宙中一个可以实现瞬间空间跳跃的虫洞，其延展、扭曲、变异的非欧几何空间犹如蕴藏了巨大能量的重力场，而这场多媒体的跨界艺术事件将通过变幻的影像去扩展空间的维度；通过富有张力的当代舞和具有能量感的金刚经的现场书写去增强空间的气场；通过哲学散文式的孤独帮白以及躁动不安的电子音乐和实验声音去制造绵延不断的意识的扩散。而这些艺术行为的综合就会产生强大的意念和能量，它们在无极场中扩散生长，改变了空间的属性与维度，使喜玛拉雅无极场真正成为能量的聚集地和文化艺术先锋的试验场。

The Himalayas Center, designed by renowned architect Arata Isozaki, is located in the fast-developing Pudong New Area. Featuring a combination of exclusive hotel, grand shopping mall, art museum and theatre, the Center is a new landmark in the Shanghai’s cultural and commercial territory and offers a wide range of amenities for tourists and casual visitors alike.
The Infinity Space, an integral part of this grand center, resembles organic forests consisting of colossal irregularly-shaped columns, and carves out an open and spectacular stage for the presentation of various art and cultural events.
Gravitational Field –2011 Himalayas Cross-Media Art Festival, a three-day art carnival featuring video, performance art, sound installation and electronic music, will be grandly unveiled at the Infinity Space from September 30, 2011. Participating artists include both pioneers in the realm of new media and leading figures of the young generation. Diversified as their art practices are, they all share one thing in common: they’re passionate about the exploration of special relationship. Fantastic video, dancing, interactive writing, performance and music will definitely make the space into a genuine hub for art, creativity and fun!
