I often got mail including links to a .php forum. when i folow the link in gmail it opens chrom and load the site . the site then flicker by and the browser turns white. I tehen must reload page to wiew it. quite anoying..

That sounds strange. I suggest that you make sure that you have the latest version for Chrome via Google Play. If the Chrome application is updated, you can go to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Clear data, to see if the same behaviour persist.

Due to my profession I have to connect to wired-only LAN-attached devices (like managed switches, routers set-top-boxes, etc.) frequently to access their configuration interfaces via Telnet/SSH/HTTP. I am totally tired of carrying a bag with a laptop with me wherever I go.

Now I am planning to buy an Android smartphone and feel like I'd like it to be Sony Ericsson Xperia Active which is pretty tough (I need it very much as my phones fall from my hands/table/pocket hundreds times a year), reasonably robust and stylish.

I don't mind using a hack or a custom firmware like Cyanogen Mod. I've already got a USB NIC based on ASIX AX88772 chip (which is detected by Ubuntu out of the box and, AFAIK, is also compatible with XBox, PS3 and Apple Macs).

To my experience on sony xperia smartphones internet through ethernet adapter works flawlessly on devices like z, z2 z3 z ultra m5 only until android lollipop 5.0.2 afterwards there seems a change in software which disables this function ality fortunately ut is easily possible to downgrsde. Newer models like z5 may have lost this functionality atleast for lollipop and there you may not be able to downgrade depending on the original firmware

I think that OTG Ethernet adapters will be unsupported for a few years because of some Android security issues which may require some extra work, and because they are "less" important features (not everyone who owns an Android device needs an Ethernet adapter). Some examples of exploited vulnerabilities are shown here:

Yesterday i updated my Sony Xperia XZ to the 7.1.1 version of android nougat. Previously I didn't had any problems with my internet connection except some wifi problems because i wasn't able to connect to my own wifi router (other phones can do that but my not) and i still have that problem after update , but after that update i can't even connect to mobile data so away from home im basically without any connection to internet..

I have had my Experia phone for several years but only now have experienced the inability to get internet service. Because of it, since June I have not been receiving email messages, not able to upgrad some of my apps, etc. My IT folks at work have told me I need to take it to an expert who can see what has gone wrong with the phone. Usually, my own IT folks have been able to solve any problem I've brought to them but not this time. Seems like something went wrong with this capacity of the phone at some point.

I was given a brand new Xperia XA. I have a monthly plan so I inserted my existing SIM in the Xperia. The phone works fine but whenever I try to access the web it says that it is offline. I made sure the data is on and I have tried all four Preferred network types with no success. I tested the SIM on a Samsung S8 plus and my present phone is an iPhone 5 and it works on both. I asked my kids to try to get the data to work and they were also unable to establish a link to the web. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.

I have Sony Xperia L (C2104) and I want to connect it to Eclipse (Juno) for testing and debugging Android Apps. I have installed the Sony's PC companion software. I have turned on the USB Debugging via 'Developer Options' and the USB Connection Mode is MTP.

When I plug my device to Laptop, running Windows 8, the notification bar shows 'USB Debugging Connected' and 'Internal Storage & SD Card Connected'. However, when I start Eclipse, It does not show my device in 'Android Device Chooser' window..

I think the device drivers should have got installed along with the PC Companion Software but When I right click on My Computer -> Manage -> Devices, It shows a device 'Android' in Other Devices category along with a '!' with it. So maybe the drivers are absent.

This works for me . I changed the following setting in the phone.Settings > Xperia > USB Connectivity > USB connection modeand select Mass storage mode (MSC).By default Media transfer mode (MTP) is selected and USB cable must be unplugged to change this option.

I did the same trick that Akash has posted"At times for sony experia the developer options are hidden. To unlock it do the following. You have to go to settings-> About Phone -> build version.Click on build version 7 times to unlock the developer options. I tried this and it worked perfectly.Hope it helps."It also worked for my sony Xperia L C2104
