Has anyone else had problems with videos randomly stopping during playback and returning to the beginning? I'm using Chrome on a PC and have had this problem for maybe 1/3 of all the videos I've watched. Normally, I'm aware of where I am in the video so finding my place again isn't difficult, it's just annoying to have to do it so often. There have been a few times when I returned to where I was to finish the video, but wasn't given credit for watching it in my track.

Same problem here. And it almost always happens if I pause a video for let's say 2 minutes or so and then want to let it play further. It will then play for 5 - 10 seconds and restart from the beginning. Also randomly. But that happened only like 1/4 to 1/5 of the videos I have watched

Environment: ThinkPad L15 AMD Ryzen 16GB Windows 11 Pro 64-bit, Chrome (both fully updated.) I haven't tried another browser because things get goofy whenever I do (I've run into this with Firefox and AVG Secure Browser.)

Thank you for contacting the Canvas Community. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with getting videos to play. It is likely your internet browser and we recommend clearing the cache and cookies or trying another browser.

If that doesn't work, have you tried a difference device, browser, or network? If it isn't playing on anything there is a good likelihood that the links are bad are the videos themselves corrupt. Your teacher or canvas support would be able to confirm this for you. Hopefully this helps

I have these green and blue lines at the bottom of almost every youtube video that I play in google chrome. I had the similar problem in Manjaro so I don't think this problem is distro based. I am using a macbookpro with integrated intel graphics and already fixed the issue with screen tearing but this is google chrome problem I think.

On my HP machine with Intel UHD 620 Graphics and driver version 26.20.100.7212 I am getting high GPU usage from the Desktop Window Manager Service while watching videos in any browser app. Thus, my laptop's battery drains extremely quick. Anyone else experiencing the same? Please, comment below.

In that link, there are details pointing out that the issue seems to be related to the operating system since the issue described happens also on systems with different processors model/makers and different GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) from different vendors. Some users have shared steps and workarounds that have helped to solve or mitigate the issue.

I tried all of the recommended workarounds on the forum, different GPU drivers, Windows Insider builds, Windows 10 version 1903 and 1909, and still the same spikes happen. I dunno anymore. Besides, I reported the issue to Microsoft through the Feedback Hub app, to the Google Chrome dev team, and here. Perhaps there is another driver going bonkers?

Regarding your inquiry about new drivers releases, I would like to mention that we do not comment on unreleased products, software or drivers. We recommend checking the website and the Intel Newsroom.

Also, in order to provide you with better assistance for the issues presented on your system, we are going to continue on this thread with the high GPU usage and I would recommend opening a new thread to continue assisting you with the flickering issue.

In this case, the issue seems to not be related to the graphics driver, but it is pointed out to an issue with the OS itself as described in the Microsoft Forum shared by Al.Hill, (and also reported by other users using different brands of GPUs and processors).

Hi there, I saw on your website you figured out how to make the video backgrounds work on safari mobile. Was just wondering how you were able to come to the solution. Im still having a problem with getting my background video to load on IOS

Hey sorry kohyo, I forgot to reply. I was never able to get videos to work in Safari using Netlify Large Media. The service worker suggestion provided by support did not work for me. I used Github Large File Service with Eleventy Images instead and that has been working fine. I have also had success with doing background videos using embeds from YouTube or Vimeo as well.

I built an app that we use for some digital signage at my company, and I've run into a problem with Chrome - it doesn't want to autoplay the video when a new screen is launched. This feature works fine in IE, Edge, and Firefox, but I have to actually click the video to get it to start playing when in Chrome. I've made sure that autoplay is enabled on the video itself inside the PowerApp.

I just tested and it seems that I can reproduce your issue. I found that autostart works for sample video in Chrome, but not videos from youtube. I will discuss this issue with my collegue and see if there is any suggestions.

In Edge I have enabled the autoplay setting both globally and for powerapps.com. Could not find the Chrome autoplay flag.

Is this a YouTube problem or a browser problem or a Power Apps problem?

Ran into a similar problem as I use a mp4 file for my app splash screen. Google moved, rather removed the autoplay option. But it's still there and here is how you change the setting so that your vid file plays. This is for the latest version of Chrome at the time of writing , ie Version 112.0.5615.138 (Official Build) (64-bit).

You're very welcome @Willson . Alternatively, I ended up making a few seconds clip from the original mp4 and turning that into an animated GIF. That way it would look like a vid playing, but without the hassle of instructing each and every non-tech savvy user (I have a large user base) on how to find the Settings option for whatever browser they might be using.
