I have an ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE550KL) that I recently downgraded the firmware of because of battery draining problems with the latest versions. I downgraded to version WW_1.17.40.1234, and everything seemed to go fine. However, Messenger can't be installed.

When I click on the "Install" button in the Play Store, it downloads then gets stuck on "Installing" for a while. Then, it comes up with "Can't install Messenger - Text and Video Chat for Free. Try again, and if it still doesn't work, see common ways to fix the problem"

For the meantime, I'm using Messenger Lite, which installed with no problems (I still want to use the regular Messenger app, since it has a lot more features on it). I've also installed a bunch of other apps, and none of them fail to install.

EDIT for those who might have the same problem in the future: So I actually didn't really do anything to fix it, it just randomly installed Messenger automatically (without me needing to download it from the Play Store). So sorry if I don't have a concrete solution, but I guess you can just wait a few days til it installs on its own.

I'm trying to install Facebook messenger and for some odd reason other apps are installing perfectly fine but when I try to install Facebook messenger, I get "can't install messenger, try again later or see common ways to fix it"

Hmmm - you'll need the app installed/configured on your phone. Then you can enable the app to get installed on your Watch. I have the latest (412.0) which syncs between my phone and watch just fine. I hadn't realized the product might be short-lived, I've transitioned most of my Messenger-like tasks to WhatsApp which works great on phone/watch...

Messenger (FB Messenger)? You can install apps onto the watch via the Watch app on your phone. Once installed it should work. You can confirm the presence of the app on the watch by scrolling through your list of installed apps directly via the device.

Thank you for your response. My problem is that the messenger app is not syncing with my AWU2. The messenger was installed in my iPhone but not available in my watch. That's the reason why I'm.not receiving notification.

To install Facebook and Instagram by Meta you need to have a Facebook account and an online store. If you don't have a Facebook account when you install Facebook and Instagram by Meta in your Shopify admin, then you'll be prompted to sign up for one.

I'm aware that it is possible to install an app via another app, but the user needs to confirm the installation via a system dialog. In addition to that, on newer Android versions the user needs to give the "install from unknown sources" permission to the app that tries to make install requests.

Yet, i have not granted Facebook any install permission and there was no sysyem level dialog asking me to confirm the installation. I have also made sure that Messenger wasn't already installed before.

If you allow it to install, and check the app settings for messenger afterwards, you'll most likely (depending on version and device) see at the very bottom what app installed it. On my devices, it says something like this:

So what is this? Well, go into Settings > Apps to look for it. More than likely, you'll find 2 apps here; "Facebook App Installer" (com.facebook.system), and "Facebook App Manager" (com.facebook.appmanager).

Now, it seems that these two apps come preinstalled on a lot of android devices (most?), and they are responsible for installing updates to the Facebook and Facebook messenger app. I haven't decompiled these and dug into them just yet, but the fact that "Facebook App Installer" is listed as the installer of all Facebook related apps, and the fact that Facebook App Installer comes preinstalled should tell you all you need to know to answer the question here of how Facebook circumvents the permission requests to install messenger.

-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/help/suspicious-apps-apps-section-facebook-t3415876Briefly talks about how to remove (seems you must root your phone to truly get rid of this). It also links to _data_leak_no_account/ which seems to speculate that these two apps collect data from device even when the Facebook app (and messenger) isn't installed on device. Meanwhile -samsung-isnt-pre-installing-facebook-on-your-phone/ says the reverse thing; that these two apps does not collect any information on their own.

But while trying to open the facebook from the icon created on the desktop side bar, it just pops up and displays the initial facebook screen and then hangs. The whole linux hangs and not able to kill any process.. only restart is the possible option.

Do you want to install the Messenger app so you don't have to always use a web browser? Facebook Messenger is a standalone app that allows you to chat with and send messages to all of your Facebook friends without having to go through Facebook. This wikiHow article teaches you how to install the Facebook Messenger app on your Android, iPhone, iPad, or computer (Windows or Mac).

When I installed Facebook, the messenger plugin was working. I then updated PS (I think from 1.7.7.2 to 1.7.7.4) and it stopped. Several Facebook module updates have come and gone and it hasn't fixed the issue (even turning off the messenger plugin in the module or in Facebook hasn't helped).

No it did not work for me Xperia Z5 compact. The problem started when messenger could not be updated because of error code -505. I tried to delete it's cache and data which did not help, so I uninstalled it and now guess what - can't get it back even after stopping and deleting google play data

I install a handy little tool, called Caprine, which is available for installation on both Linux and MacOS. One thing I like about Caprine is that it has a few features that the official Facebook Messenger doesn't have. The entire feature list looks like this:

Caprine can be installed on Ubuntu and Debian-based distributions, RHEL and Fedora-based distributions, and any distribution that supports Snap, Flatpak, or AppImages. To get it installed, you'll need a running instance of Linux and a user with sudo privileges.

I'm going to show you how to install Caprine on both Ubuntu and Debian and RHEL and Fedora-based distributions. To make this simple, I'm going to demonstrate using both Snap and Flatpak, because that should cover most every Linux distribution.

If you're like me, you'll find Caprine to be an outstanding solution to a problem you didn't even realize you had. Give the app a try and see if it doesn't quickly become your go-to for all your Facebook messenger chats.

Next, navigate to the Facebook Messenger channel that was just installed and click the "Connect with Facebook" button. Follow the prompts to select the Facebook Pages you want to authorize to configure as senders. In this step, you will be authorizing Twilio's Facebook Application to send and receive messages on behalf of your Facebook Page(s), thereby enabling access to Facebook Messenger through the Twilio Programmable Messaging API.

When a user sends a message to your Facebook Page, your callback URL will receive the message with the same parameters as a standard Twilio WhatsApp or SMS message. Facebook Messenger sender and recipients have the format messenger:messenger id. You will need to retrieve the Facebook Messenger user ID from the callback response.

tl;dr: to install Messenger without enabling notifications, giving Facebook your phone number, or giving Facebook access to your contacts, you have to refuse 6 times via deliberately inconspicuous links.

Please help me understand and help ALL of Us, understand firefox mozilla, that why you, the Supposed to be amongst the leaders of internet freedom, Mozilla Firefox and associates that your latest update to firefox beta for android version 52.0 FORCES it's users to Have to install facebook messenger to retrieve our facebook messages. Mozilla Firefox and associates, Forcing your internet browser users to install the facebook messanger app in order to be able to check, and respond to Our correspondences, Sure is NOT internet freedom!! Please remove your update that Forces your beta users to install the facebook messanger app!?? Thank you kindly for Any of your time, Us/me

Thank you for your time and response. okay..we were just wondering about the latest update of firefox beta for android version 52.0. Why did the version Before that we had installed on several different smartphones of ours and we all Were able to view, access and interact with All of our facebook messages without having to either be force directed to install facebook messanger or even selecting the "Request Desktop Site" Methonds? Why, what, who in the updated latest version of Firefox beta for android do users now have to do either of above mentioned methods to check our facebook messages, But not before the new update and Not in the regular firefox browser for android??

So after upgrading my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0, Facebook Messenger was missing from my app list. I hit the Play Store and tried installing, and got an 'Error -505. Unable to install'. adb logcat shows it attempting to create com.facebook.orca (which exists), then attempting to take ownership. It couldn't take ownership because Knights & Dragons owned it. The only way around it was to uninstall K&D. After that, installing Facebook Messenger went fine. Now I can't install K&D because of the same reason (now the library is owned by Messenger, and can't be assigned).

Pretty sure I read about this being a problem on Google's end. I upgraded my Nexus 5 as well and had the same problem. You can still use the normal facebook app for messenger until this gets fixed (although you don't get notifications) or Bluestacks/andyroid to play k&d.

It's a problem on both ends. Google didn't tell anyone that they were changing the way signatures worked for external libraries, and a lot of app developers were utilizing the API examples companies like Facebook put out without alteration...which meant they were also haphazardly using the Facebook signatures for the references. When it tries to install K&D the reference for the com.facebook.orca library is signed with the same signature as Facebook Messenger, which doesn't work in Lollipop and the install fails.
