With lab spaces decreasing and student enrollment increasing, many institutions are choosing studio learning as a supplement to traditional laboratories, creating a need for a portable test and measurement bench that can support all types of circuits projects. With an Analog Discovery Studio, students can continue their hands-on learning in the library, office hours, a tutoring center, a classroom, at home or even in a coffee shop.

JColvin - thank you so much! Indeed, I had not removed the small piece of foam in between the canvas and the studio. Once I removed it, those power supply rails, their switches and their LEDs worked perfectly as well. In the getting started instructions, I had understood the foam to be an external piece of foam that was in the packaging; it was not immediately apparent to me that the canvas was magnetically attached to the studio board and could be removed simply by pulling it up.

Discovery Studio (DS) is a suite of software for modeling small and polymeric systems. It is developed and distributed by Dassault Systèmes BIOVIA (formerly Accellrys). This product suite features a robust academic collaboration program that supports scientific research and leverages many software algorithms originally developed in the scientific community, including CHARMM, MODELLER, DELPHI, ZDOCK, DMol3, and more. Key capabilities of DS currently include protein characterization (including protein-protein interactions), homology modeling, molecular mechanics calculations, and molecular dynamics simulations, structure-based drug design tools (including ligand-protein interactions, new drug design), molecular docking, small molecule-based drug design tools (including quantitative structure-activity relationship, pharmacophore, database screening, ADMET), design and analysis of combinatorial libraries. DS can be applied to the following research areas of life sciences: new drug discovery, bioinformatics, structural biology, enzymology, immunology, virology, genetics, and tumor research.

They continued to return for more tea and some were having powerful shifts and openings into the loving presence within. They began telling their friends about their experiences at the studio and some of them started coming over for tea.

Over the years... some of them have asked me to invite more people to experience this, and so I have created this website as a way to extend the invitation to more people. I also renamed the studio to the
Self Discovery Studio!

Discovery Studio is a powerful software suite widely used for 3D molecular modeling, simulation, and visualization. It combines world-class in silico techniques and over 30 years of peer-reviewed research into a shared environment, providing molecular modelers with a complete toolset. With Discovery Studio, researchers can explore the nuances of protein chemistry and catalyze discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics from Target ID to Lead Optimization.

Discovery Studio Simulation, the cloud-based version, is available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, offering several benefits over the desktop version. First, it eliminates the need for hardware upgrades and installations, making it easier and more cost-effective for researchers to access the software. It also provides greater flexibility and scalability, allowing scientists to run multiple simulations simultaneously and scale up or down as needed. Finally, as a platform-based application, with Discovery Studio Simulation, users may access other applications on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, supporting end-to-end small molecule drug discovery. These applications include:

Wings of Hope Equitherapy is a non-profit organization which partners horses with children and adults who have disabilities and challenges. Their mission is to provide hope, healing and discovery to their clients.

The architect was asked to design a Discovery Studio on the Wings of Hope campus to serve as an inclusive classroom, art studio, and gathering space. The spirit of the Studio is to promote wellness through learning, creating and interacting with nature and horses. While the large windows bring in natural light and views to the surrounding heavily-treed property, the overhead door opens to allow small ponies into the studio, which supports the mission of discovery and healing.

The site for the studio was chosen based on proximity to an existing septic system and natural drainage patterns on the property. In addition, the location of the studio near the existing arena and chapel creates a shared courtyard space for clients to enjoy. The triangular shaped site is located at a fork in the road near the entrance to the Wings of Hope property. This helped inform the building shape and created an opportunity for the Discovery Studio to be the first building guests see as they enter the campus. The studio's "front porch" was designed to be dynamic and welcoming to clients and guests.

Learn to Learn: Children work to achieve mastery in the core skills of reading, writing and math, earning badges rather than grades. In mastery learning, children work at their own pace, using online platforms that track progress towards their goals. Mastery learning prevents learning gaps; self-paced learning provides differentiation - no more boredom in the classroom.Learn to Do: Children engage in real world projects we call Quests, that challenge them to apply their skills and knowledge. They don't just read books about physics and take a test. Rather they build and test marble runs, build boats and bridges in real life. Acton learners demonstrate learning through end-of-session exhibitions.Learn to Be: Learners engage in Socratic discussions to encourage deep thinking and reflection about themselves and the world. In addition, they take ownership of their learning by setting their own goals and participate in the self-governance of their class. They practice and celebrate character traits such as hard work, integrity, persistence, kindness and gratitude.1Character MattersCharacter is foundational to a purposeful, productive and fulfilling life.2Growth MindsetEmbracing failure and growth is central to all we do.3Freedom & ResponsibilityFreedom and responsibility with guardrails.4Community & AccountabilityOur studio culture engenders trust and resilience.Learning at ActonJoy + Rigor = MasteryIn a safe environment and through self-learning, young heroes understand the relationship between freedom and responsibility, discover their hero's journey, develop long-lasting friendships, and participate in a hardworking community with a culture of inquiry.

  • Mentor teams encourage younger and older students to listen, affirm, set goals and hold each other accountable.
  • "Learn to Be" badges that celebrate character and completing leadership challenges.
Our Philosophy of LearningClear thinking leads to good decisions. Good decisions lead to the right habits. The right habits lead to character and Character becomes destiny. Measuring MasteryEarn badges to prove you've mastered skillsYoung Heroes celebrate the mastery of tools, skills and character by earning badges, assembling portfolios and taking part in public exhibitions.
  • Hold each other accountable.
  • Parents use badges to track academic progress in core skills like reading, writing, math and spelling and character development in "Learn to Be" badges.
  • Portfolios of student work in electronic and hard copy that capture rough drafts, photos, video and other creative work.
  • Public exhibitions at the end of most quests allowing young heroes to present work to experts, customers or the public for a real-world test.

Other option is to use my Tronix XT (normal edition) and use studio strobes (currently only have 300ws ones) and look into the Godox EXR400 Ringflash, but I figured the Discovery seems to check the right boxes.

For my small home portrait studio (5x7meter), my 300Ws strobes are used at full power only if I want to colour the black background using a coloured gel. I can easily go to f/16 with just one 300Ws strobe at 200ISO. I've never felt the need to go higher, but I often use the strobes at their minimum setting (1/128) for shallow DOF.

To enter the Elementary Studio a learner must be independent and resilient enough to take responsibility for their learning and choices. And parents must be ready to see the struggles that come with that responsibility. Learners need to be independent readers who can read directions successfully on their own and write down their thoughts to navigate this learner-driven studio successfully.
